I'd vote for the "A"!

And maybe a bit of "B" action too.

F-35C would be the last choice, unless you're going to put cables across a runway and "simulate" a carrier landing...

Oh it'd still be awesome to watch it fly, but the C would be the least of the three I'd want to see (I've seen an A, it was crazier than a Raptor)...

but you're not going to use the A version for a Navy Demo team?

The Blue's shutdown for a while since all the air shows were getting canceled, good way for them to save some money I guess. They did just announce a beach show in July, spread out along a good distance instead of having a show center.

I'd love to get down to their final show this year with the Legacy Hornet.

I think the C is the obvious choice, being a Navy aircraft. The legacy Hornets were designed for carrier landings, as are the Super Hornets they're transitioning to, so I don't see how that makes the C model a less likely choice.

Why would they need to do that? They've never done it before and they've always flown carrier aircraft.

It was my understanding that the US military required that the aircraft used by the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels be capable of being returned to full combat capability in a defined time frame. That would make the F-35A irrelevant as the Navy would reqire the F-35C for active duty.

I almost added, "and I don't mean to indicate a fuel state" to the original post, but wasn't sure anyone would notice. I guess I should have... smile

The real Blue Angel's Rhino.

My favorite Blue Angels jet was the Skyhawk however, that was the aircraft that they were flying when I first saw them in person and it just seemed best suited to the task.

Agreed, I saw them in the A4 once too. Really a great show.

All I could think when I saw them i n the F4's was "Man. that smoke must be visible for miles in the air."
