MSI MPG Z390I Gaming Edge AC WIFI ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
Core i5 9600K 6 Core LGA 1151 3.7GHz CPU Processor
Thermaltake 850W Toughpower GF1 ARGB 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply.
Corsair Hydro Series H100x Liquid CPU Cooler.
I'll just post these items as that is all that is plugged in atm. Card, ram, ssd removed, no peripherals connected.
Checked, double and quadtriple checked all connectors. checked cpu seating, it can only fit one way, pins are fine. The cooler either fits...or it doesn't, i don't see how one could muck that up.
All the case connectors, power switch, leds etc are correct, pulled them out twice, rechecked, back in, they seat fine.
Turn on, no mobo speaker so no beeps, psu fires up, cooler fans and rear case fan don't spin, coooler light on top of the pump turns on, red light above cpu wording on mobo (puctured below)is instantly on. Disconnect cooler power from psu and from mobo, disconnect rear case fan from mobo so that all is left is psu to mobo and case wires to mobo, still red cpu light.
Have done an out of case test just to make sure the case isn't interfering with the mobo, no joy. My daughters mate just got his first pc parts after saving for months and is now a very distraught person, am i looking at a doa board or cpu?

Gen 8 board with a gen 9 cpu. I need to update the bios to recoqnise the cpu before it will boot as it fails at the boot check. Would have been nice to know before hand but at least i can sort it now.
