Didn't notice this until today. I knew about Task Force Admiral and B-17 but this?

I must have missed that post Red. These are interesting times.

I'd have put money on never seeing games like this being made again.

Yep, I would be real happy with just those 3 titles to be out before the year is over. Or at least one... biggrin

I'm not that into more modern ship based games, but War on the Sea will be the one for me... I enjoyed Atlantic Fleet from Killer Fish games too.

Nope, that's title in development by Killerfish Games, Sea Power is being developed by Triassic Games founded by ex-Killerfish Games folks.

I can't keep keep all this straight which is a good thing I guess seeing this many naval sims in the works. I saw Red's post on this and it looks good. I still haven't played Cold Waters yet. What do you mean by B-17 Chucky?

I love seeing the super carriers, Tomcats and Corsairs II in a modern engine!

Me Too. But didn't care for the fighters or any game level above Sqn. I Used to crash all the fighters then fly the mission. I do hope they improve the graphics, but the game play was solid and re play was high. A lot of Fun. Very high marks for controlling the crew.

This one will be multiplayer too. I don't yet know all the details, but you can crew your B-17 with people.

And this was the original: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-17_Flying_Fortress_(video_game)

Yeah, the original B-17 (1992) was one of the first flight sims I bought.

My PC at the time had no sound card so it all came through the PC speaker (painful to the ears). It came on floppy discs. Big box heaven.

This guy has some semi recent videos of the original. I forgot what mods he uses, but I did use those mods to run mine some time ago. Great memories...

Red,are you getting confused over the 2 games? The original was released in 1992,The Mighty Eighth came later in 2000.

As to the video you posted, the guy was playing The Mighty Eighth only recently on Twitch TV.

Here is the 1992 game. As you can see, you'd have to be a real retro nut to want to play this again smile

The 1992 one was one of the first flight sims I ever played. Never could get a bomber to survive 20 missions. Had one complete 18, aborted 1 and on the 20th mission it went down in the channel never to be seen again. Of those 19 times I made it back to England, I think I only successfully landed back at Alconbury 6 or 7 times. All the rest I had to either divert to another airfield or ditch in some poor farmer's field. That poor B-17 and it's crew just got chewed up every mission.

Thanks for the update Red. This is one of the few games I'm looking forward to. I'm getting fussy in my old age smile
