Since my DID pilot had to move from Vert Galand to the large service aerodrome at Estrée-Blanche I decided to knock together a more historically accurate representation of this famous camp. Using the excellent photo, drawing, and description in Alex Revell's "High in the Empty Blue" I was able to build this one without too much muss or fuss. I even added in a smattering of buildings to represent the town of Estrée-Blanche as well, which sat down the hill just south of the aerodrome.(right-click on image and open in new window to view it full size)
My plan is to package this one with Vert Galand and offer both once I have the autumn and winter tiles done for them. So many historic aerodromes to build, so little time. And then there's that Italian Front to get back to as well.
