There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Retractable landing gear on a biplane? That must had been a first in those days and state of the art. Thank you KraziKanuK.

The airplane became a high wing monoplane as the lower wing and u/c retracted into the upper wing.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Look like I miss a couple of decades in airplane development. Biplanes for me are those WW 1 planes with fixed landing gear and cloth fabric covered wings.

The inter-war period, especially late inter-war, had some very interesting designs as they tried to wring out the last drops of performance from the biplane design. Many didn't think monoplanes could be built to take the stresses a biplane could.

Naunton Beauchamp Worcestershi...
There was great misgivings in the Air Ministry here in the UK concerning the suitability for air combat of the monoplane fighter over the manouverability of the biplane, and the emphasis on the dictum 'the bomber will always get through', therefore prioritising bomber production as a deterrent.
If it were not for the foresight of innovative designers and some senior officers, private investment, and the delaying strategy of Chamberlain's 'Peace in our Time' in 1938, the RAF would be using biplane aircraft that could not catch the bombers or have the power of armament with which to shoot them down.
