Over a decade ago a few early Youtube and Vimeo users uploaded a combination of archived US Navy and Government footage and home videos shot aboard US Navy aircraft carriers in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Some of this footage, particularly of the USS Oriskany was complied by veterans and military historians and re-uploaded to educational and tributary websites such as this: http://www.ussoriskany.us/o1970_cruise.htm.
Unfortunately during the early days of "copyright mania" on Youtube a lot of these video compilations were pulled, the audio removed, and their respective user accounts terminated. As a result a lot high-quality historical footage became inaccessible unless you were able to get a hold of a user's copy. Since many of those accounts and films are long gone, I have decided to attempt the next best thing, recreate them with a modern twist.
Here is a copy of the original, unfortunately I can't attribute who made it other than I know they posted it to a US Navy reunion website and used film from one of the USS Oriskany's Vietnam deployments.
