I hate to say it, but I probably saw the Blue Angels for the last time around 3 years ago. I posted about it here... I've got the Blues this morning. And not just because they'll no longer be flying one of my favorite jets, the legacy Hornet. I'm also reminded by my thread that I'm getting too old and cranky to deal with the insane amount of traffic and people at an airshow, although New Orleans was worse than any of the ones in Jacksonville (alternating NAS and beach). Maybe I can catch a practice in Pensacola and then enjoy the rest of my quiet day at the Naval Aviation Museum.

Do the Blues publish their Pensacola practice schedule, or is it just local/common knowlege... or just matter of luck catching them at it?

Do the Blues publish their Pensacola practice schedule, or is it just local/common knowlege... or just matter of luck catching them at it? Found some info: "...most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings..." https://www.blueangels.navy.mil/faq/========== "52 | Is it possible to schedule a tour of the Blues home base? Unfortunately, no. Due to hectic show and maintenance schedules, it is extremely difficult to schedule tours or photographic opportunities. People who desire to see the Blue Angels between shows are encouraged to view a practice demonstration at the National Museum of Naval Aviation at NAS Pensacola. Practices are usually held most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings; weather permitting, during the show season when the team is home. A tentative practice schedule may be viewed on the Blue Angels' website at www.blueangels.navy.mil/show/." ==========

I never thought of the Super Hornet as being as big as an F4.

Normally there are a lot more practice times. I have been there the past three years - yes they have bleachers and chairs you can rent. Also some limited concessions. It is well worth the show - get there early... https://www.blueangels.navy.mil/show/

One of the reasons I now go VIP, but I blame one of the directors of a company I used to work for, he kept giving me VIP tickets to airshows and I liked that extra touch you got. So now when I take my grandson to the airshow we go VIP, private parking and a limousine to the stand at the airshow, going to miss it this year though.

That's a porker of a plane for aerobatic demonstrations. Far sexier than the Phantom, though--not F-16 sexy, but not fugly, either. The Super Hornet is still considerably smaller than the Flankers that some demonstration teams are using. The Flanker series are huge, almost the size of an F-111.

Yes, but the Flanker is sexy...Rhino...not so much.

Yeah those flankers and MIG-29s are hot, just like Russian women.
All those years in the Cold War we thought Russians had nothing but fat Olgas... Oh, were we wrong.

I wonder what will replace the Super Hornet in Blue Angels service?
I mean yeah, the F-35C is the obvious answer I'd vote for the "A"! And maybe a bit of "B" action too. F-35C would be the last choice, unless you're going to put cables across a runway and "simulate" a carrier landing... Oh it'd still be awesome to watch it fly, but the C would be the least of the three I'd want to see (I've seen an A, it was crazier than a Raptor)...
