Hi all, do many of you use OldHats missions for WOFF PE or the stock OBD ones? Is there much of a difference ie one more historical than the other etc..Thanks for any info

I've just been using the stock WOFF PE missions. I used Oldhats a long time ago but with all of the changes under the hood since he created his mod, I figured it was best sticking with the most up to date stuff the Devs have. If you use them, let us know how they are different, please.

Adger, I looked into the mission files and they are fine to use with any version of WOFF. As long as the aircraft in the mission are in WOFF, then it should work from the first release of WOFF all the way up to UE and PE.

Thanks for the info OrbyxP, I’m assuming that OH mod and OBD,S stock missions are both historical but maybe worded differently on the mission briefings etc.? cheers

You get a slightly different mix of missions with each, I believe.

For British fighter squadron's, OldHat's mod gets rid of the Airfield and Railyard attack missions, for example. You will also get a few more intercept missions, where you are supposed to intercept in-bound enemy aircraft. I think you may also be assigned a few more deep offensive patrols with OldHat's mod, as well. The missions in OldHat's mod also change from year to year, with a total of nine "periods" as opposed to just one in WOFF.

As to which is more historical, I can't really say. I think OldHat based his mod of off Bletchley's original mission mod that he claimed was more historical, based on his research of British combat missions.

Of course, there are also missions for French, German, and even American pilot's as well, including bomber, recon, as well as fighter missions.

Also, after taking a closer look at older threads, I see that OH missions really need JJJ's ME to take full advantage. For example, solo flights (most of 1916 for both sides, esp German), spy drops at night, fuel restrictions in late war for Germans, arty spotting without observers, airborne leaflet propaganda drops, airfield/railyard/depot attacks with several squadrons, removing WOFF's stock formation flying until it actually appeared later in the war, etc.. I don't think that stock WOFF missions contain any of these types.

The instructions in the mission files seem fuzy on how to do it, so I may update OH's mission instructions to be used easier with JJJ's ME.

You're welcome, Adger. BTW, I forgot that missions in both WOFF "standard" and Oldhat's mod also vary depending on region and whether you are in a quiet or active sector.

If you do choose to use Oldhat's mod, don't forget to check "enable third party missions" in Workshop.
