So when you have the In Cloud effect checked in the Workshop, it gives a more 3d effect when flying through clouds, which is good. However the way it renders it feels more like you are flying in a bubble through the clouds, because your wings are cloudy, but there's this hard line right outside the cockpit where the in cloud effect stops and your cockpit is 100% clear. Any chance the in cloud effect could be extended to cover the entire field of view and not exempt the cockpit from the overlay? I think it would add significantly to the feel of realism if it were possible.

Good question. I also like the in-cloud effect (some don't), but I agree with you about the bubble effect. Aside the possible effect on frame rates, I have no idea what files might need adjusting. Anyone?

Wish I could offer constructive input here but I don't use the in-cloud fog - tried to a while back and it was an fps hit so I've avoided using it.

It would need AnK0r possibly, as it's because the cloud does not render over the Virtual Cockpit parts. Perhaps if he is successful with DX11 we will have new clouds etc anyway so Iikely would work differently.

We can always hope. No big deal, just thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks for the info.

What about having an effect like the rain, but instead of drops of rain, you would have wisps go by? Is that possible with DX9 engine? That may “mask” the bubble a bit.

In my opinion, just don't use 'in cloud effect' ... it's gimmicky and will never be realistic. I have flown with it 'off' for years and I totally get lost in the clouds all the time. Having a hazy overlay suddenly plastered on the screen because you are 'in a cloud' seems phony to me, when the actual clouds in the game totally give the 'I am in a cloud' visual effect and feeling already.

Rain works the same way. I think the only real solution would be via shaders - detect when the in cloud effect is being shown then replace it with another effect perhaps
