Yeah if I recall correctly some or all of Sobels' children pretty much disowned him for at least a time, so he was not a great guy.
I believe it was Guarnere who tried to contact Sobel and get him to attend reunions in the 60's etc. and he refused.

I think more folks will stream than go to a theaters. Most theaters companies are not even open. There are no big movies for them to show. They are waiting for a big release and some of them won't be open until July. Will people still go to the cinemas in large herds? I doubt it. Theaters will also need to practice social distancing which means every other seat empty or completely removed - that will lower the number of tickets they can sell per each showing = lower box office return. This virus is changing the world in more ways than one. People are still willing to see tentpole big budget movies in theaters but many will not return until a vaccine has been made according to many of the polls I've seen online. Considering that a vaccine is still about 12 months away according to the most optimistic sources, it is safe to say that we will be seeing a significant number of movie theater locations closing. Movie theaters will go through the same process that shopping malls have already been going through for the past several years. They will not entirely go away but there will be a significant downsizing.

Why Apple? Amazon has twice as many subscribers (100 million vs 47m) and Netflix has almost four times as many (183m).

My educated guess is that Apple offered the studio and Hanks the best deal.

I think Tom Hanks looking younger is CGI too. It's looking more and more like that recent Midway movie. The Midway movie got surprisingly decent reviews but it still flopped at the box office. At least Emmerich put some of his own money into the making of the film. I admire that.

I'm not interested in seeing it based on the multiple trailers I've seen. This very much seems to be in the same vein as "Fury". In other words, over-blown and exaggerated combat scenes for the sake of making the movie "interesting" for a modern audience.

I really hope it's good. We need more good war movies. I have to agree about Fury, mostly ruined by one part, but still forgettable even outside of that. MIdway was ok, better than the original, but that's a low bar. 1917 was amazing. I'm still absorbing that one and how they filmed it like it was one long shot. From day to night to day and it didn't seem rushed somehow?
