because the pilots seat position in some aeroplanes can be improved in my eyes I always change my seat position about the bottons "Shft+Bksp/Enter" and "Ctrl+Bksp/Enter" before I start to fly. My question: Is there a possibility to safe the changed seat postion for an aeroplane? Must I open a spezial file for it and change something there?
P.S.: I don't mean the Zoom-Factor. Zoom doesn't change the seat position but enlarge / downsize the whole picture only.
Talking about zoom... how can I get a smooth zoom in and out? At the moment I can only do it in steps. I know there is a way to do it but can't remember how...

If I remember correctly Trooper, you click on advanced on the zoom in/out key and change the setting from 0 to 2

Thanks for answer!
Do you mean the FOV? Here are my results after changing them in the xdp file (although I did notice a "fisheye" effect)
EDIT: See post below for final result on 1080p monitor
I'm not sure if we mean the same. To be sure start the mission in the cockpit and then change the seat position with the buttons the Botton-combination "Shft+Bksp/Enter" (seat is going down and up) and "Ctrl+Bksp/Enter" (seat is going forth and back). You find them in workshop > keys/ controllers > Filter Functions > > ViewControl > Move Eyepoint …
But … which xdp-file? What have you changed there?
The 3d model has an eyepoint set exactly where the pilot eye is in the pilot model. The pilot is usually placed after looking at original WW1 photos. It normally cannot be adjusted permanently externally - only temporarily as you are doing with the key presses you posted.
If you're in QC flight, then open "\OBDSoftware\WOFF\OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields\aircraft\Nieuport 17_QC1\Nieuport 17_QC1.xdp" with notepad
Locate the line with <View Event="HeadStop"/> and change to <View Event="HeadStop" X="0" Y="0" Z="-0.2"/> ... i.e. eyepoint goes 20cm back. Save file and you're done.
x value of positive will move eyepoint to right, negative will move eyepoint to left y value of positive will move eyepoint to up, negative will move eyepoint to down z value of positive will move eyepoint to forward, negative will move eyepoint to back 0.1 ~ 10cm
If you're in campaign, then open "\OBDSoftware\WOFF\OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields\aircraft\Nieuport 17_Sqd\Nieuport 17_SQD.xdp" with notepad and do the same as above.
It won't take effect until you look in another direction then back to forward view. And the best part is no "fisheye" like chaning the FOV.
If you want to change the FOV, then you will need to change this line in the same file: <Station Name="Pilot" Type="pilot_station" View="0" FovUp="25"FovDown="17">
@orbyxP, thanks for the info! I will test it during the next days.
@Pol thanks for explanation! I know, you / OBD work very exactly! Because of that I'm a fan of this sim. There are only some aeroplanes, with which I want to test this.

Is that setting in workshops Adger?
Sent you a PM mate.

success and Thanks! With your x-,y-,z- line I could safe the pilots Seat Position. After that I have tried the same with the crosshair. With Ctrl+Enter you can move the head back a little bit. But the x-y-z-line to safe hasn't functioned in this case. Do you know how?
all is okay! I was able to solve the problem. It was a simple mistake of mine. With your tip I coluld change and safe both: The pilot seat and the crosshair.

This discussion got me thinking. In particular, orbyxp's post on FOV and pilot seat position got me wondering if I there might be a way to improve the view for Spad pilots. This is what I have been able to come up with so far. Any thoughts?
Since I still haven't figured out an easy way to post pics, the attached pics below are, in order: 1) Default view, 2) Updated view, 3) Default view zoom out max, 4) Updated view zoom out max.

The change is relatively simple to make, so you can either do it yourself, or wait for me to put it in a mod. The above pics are for the Spad XIII, but can also be done for the Spad VII and the N28, among others with a poor view.
The updated view can also be adjusted, if further improvements are deemed necessary.
BTW, the updated view does not affect zoom or the iron sight.

I don't use FOV for standard cockpit-view, because the visuell distance to the objekts around is bigger than in real meter / feeds, other: The objekts are too small. That's not my world. So I work only with seat position for cockpit-view in a few aeroplanes.
