For flight sims? Look into the Samsung Odyssey +, I hear it's great. I love my original Oculus Rift but higher resolution is always better

I was looking at getting an Oculus Rift S but they seem to be out of stock every where. Is there something new on the horizon that I might be missing?
Well the HP REverb G2 is coming this fall and preorders will be taken soon.. I hear good things about the Pimax 8k Plus.. I have an odyssey Plus and looking to upgrade.. I am really leaning towards the Pimax 8K Plus..
As for hardware availability; the Dell website for PC accessories has lots of Vive hardware for sale; Dell price-matches, so you can make them adjust their prices if you find a legitimate lower price elsewhere, e.g. the base stations v.2 on Dell website are $200, but on Steam, they are $179. If you give them the link, they'll check it out and give you the better price.
That said, you are buying into the HTC hardware universe; their technical support is notorious, almost as bad as the Dell Hell if you buy a PC from them.
Nonetheless, where many internet sources have no VR parts available, Dell usually does.
Just a source for VR hardware. I'd recommend the Vive Pro, whose resolution is every bit as good as the (nonexistent) Index. I still like it after all these years, and I have had hardware failures turned around in less than 2 weeks. It has features that are sadly missing from the later versions like the Cosmos series.
Supporting the Zuck? Well...

I'm no expert. I too want VR someday. So, a FWIW:
My current desktop system is a 4K 43" monitor (plus two side monitors) which is eye filling and I can't see the pixels. The VR has to be as good as or better for me.
I bought a Pimax 5K XR OLED VR Virtual Reality Headset with Wide 200°FOV, Dual 2560x1440p OLED Panels & 6 DOF Tracking. Note the resolution is effectively 2K.
I sent it back after 2 days because of low resolution and "screen door effect" on the pixels. 2K was "pixelated" to my eyes and each pixel had a vague black outline.
However, I decided that an 8K version without screendoor would do the job. I loved the wide field of view. It was like being there.
I lean strongly towards Pimax 8K if it works as they say. However, its really only dual 4K, not 8K by above definition. Marginal. I'll wait to be sure.
Anybody able to shed light on what kind of hardware would be able to run something like the PIMAX 8k (or closest equivalent) in games such as DCS or IL-2 Great Battles?

Here's a first impression from ThrillSeeker, Its not Sim specific but he does mention them. Seems to me that if all you want it for is Simming then its the best there is ATM but if you want it to play other games as well due to the sub par controller tracking and non capacitive controller buttons it has some flaws.
I'll be sticking with my Rift S for the moment but it does sound tempting.

The VR Flightsim guy did a livestream earlier today on the HP Reverb G2 in flightsims. Interesting. I think I`ve heard somewhere that the controller tracking can be improved with software updates.
Bummer. Got my HP Reverb G2 on Christmas Eve. Plugged it in and got an 4-1 error in the Windows mixed reality portal., which means it`s asking for SuperSpeed and the USB 3 port doesn`t give the required speed. I`ve tried all USB ports and Type C ports on the GPU and MB to no avail. Before I plug in the set the portal reports my PC is good to go, but when plugged in the portal report that it fails on delivering USB Superspeed. Updated BIOS, Nvidia drivers and chipset drivers. Even bought a PCI USB 3 adapter. So I have asked for a new cable to check if the fault lies there. If not I`ll return the set.
I see in the HP support forum that many report the same issue, and it could be a bad batch in the production. So it`s wait and see for a while.

Well I got tired of waiting so I bought a HP Reverb G1 Pro. I must say that I am now a firm believer in VR. It really is the game changer everyone says it is.
