Awesome Rec! Yeah, the whole thing was worth that story alone. Thanks.

I don't know about the limpets. I was only firing one, I didn't attempt to fire the second (3E controller)

Yeah WC, very inspiring. But before I do it I need to test agility somehow. Maybe I could module swap to test a Clipper with dirty drags.

JC, that murder boat would get it done for sure!

You cannot resist.

Yeah, Rec writes good stories. Have you ever read his Inara log entries? I'd like to see more of that around here!

Not sure how long the Bug Hunting will last once I hit ELITE Combat Rank (something Bo doesn't need to worry about) but for now it combines two essential features:

1) Rank increase
2)Novelty

I've been consumed with learning the F/A-18C in DCS World and have been ignoring ED for a long time. So it is nice to have a reason to come back!

WOW Somebody actually READS THOSE!

Interesting as I re-read them how Elite Dangerous was back in the Days before VO and LTD! Getting excited over 1.2 million credit payouts and flying Cobras and Type 6's!

Yep, those are my reasons too.

Less than 12kly from Sag A now, so hopefully back to the bubble soon-ish. Then it's fitting the FDL and joining in the fun.

Rec I paused my current DCS run (Harrier not Hornet though) and got hooked back into ED. It seems after going hard core into those systems it's nice to fall back on something a little less...involve maybe?

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

You nailed it! Elite Dangerous was the comfortable old shoe I could step into any time for some fun. Gradually I did almost EVERYTHING, and started to go barefoot smile The Bug Hunting Novelty and the push for ELITE Combat rank has gotten me back into it...at least for awhile.

SPOILER: A little DCS ranting below.

As I mentioned in a thread in the DCS forum, I have had DCS World, Flaming Cliffs 3 and A-10C for a long time, but never really had any FUN. I had not climbed the steep A-10C learning curve. When the F/A-18C went on sale along with the SuperCarrier Work In Progress, I grabbed it. I was a big Janes F/A-18 fan, and was looking forward to trying the DCS Hornet. I diddled around with training missions and Videos and was pretty overwhelmed by it all. Eventually, though, I buckled down and I really love flying the F/A-18. Though I always thought of DCS as the APEX of realism, I am discovering disconcerting things. Switchology and systems seem to be modeled down to the slightest detail, but BOMBS don't seem to do the right damage...and looking into it, it seems this has been a long standing complaint. In that thread above, I got sort of shamed into going back to learn the A-10C, and I started this process, but felt my time was better spent really learning the F/A-18. Since it is on sale now, I do plan to pick up the Harrier and the Persian Gulf map as well. Seems like at least some of the systems I am learning in the F/A-18 like the Litening Pod will carry over somewhat but I am kind of dismayed that I can drop a Mark 83 within feet of a soft target and have barely any damage done, or drop a 500 lb JDAM right on top of a soft target and have it only damaged. Smaller AGM-65's seem to blow just about ANYTHING to bits...

I feel your DCS pain. I've dropped 2000lb bombs on unarmored trucks in close formation in a practice scenario, and where they should all have been obliterated, only the one I actually hit dies.
I've climbed tha A10-C curve a few times, it's not really that bad, but I needed a change and switched to the Harrier. I've got too many DCS modules, far more than I probably should. Believe it or not, one of my favorites is the Ka-52 Black Shark. The hard part is the actual flying, the systems are pretty easy to learn. Some of the best flying experience I've had was in the Shark flying into battle. Gotta get that one going again. In VR it should be glorious!

Actually it was my 2nd Hyperdiction. The first was when I was out collecting Materials at the Crashed Thrargoid at HIP 17403.

That one scared the everloving crap out of me!!! This time, I at least knew I was going to live through it and my ship systems would come back online..

OK, cool. I've had four so far, but none like the first! None during my recent visit to Maia, but I was prepared for it.

I even bought a shutdown field neutralizer and stored it at home base. When the bugs come, I want to be ready smile
