From a pure technical point of view without a doubt the xB1 x. Most power + nearly silent architecture.
Otherwise it depends on the exclusive games you want to play. Or the friends you have to play games with on one of the systems.
Owning all of the actual console systems my actual preference is the Nintendo Switch, just because it offers the one thing no other system including my PC can offer: Mobility. wink

How do you get games for them, CD/DVD or via download, e.g. from Steam or such?

While there is still the option to get physical game copies for all console systems, you can also get your games via digital distribution from the Microsoft or Playstation store. Works just like Steam only restricted to your system.
Also there is a relatively new way to get games via a subscription model. It´s called Microsoft Gamepass and/or Playstation Now.
MS gamepass is an excellent deal with a numerous catalogue of new and old titles including all MS exclusive titles. PS Now while having some great Sony exclusive titles doesn´t offer the same number of games in comparision.

Hey Frank old chum, how's things? What's this console business you're on about then? smile

Do any of you guys know much about PS4 VR? My son who is ten, has saved his money and wants to buy a VR for his PS4. Early returns indicate that the Playstation VR set is the one to get. I wondered though if anyone has a view on this? It's up to dad to make sure he doesn't waste his money. Along those same lines, which PS4 VR game titles shine the brightest?

He has already ruled out Elite Dangerous. He likes to watch me play from time to time, but not in to it himself. He has also ruled out Subnautica haha. Anyone have anything to share about PS4 VR that would be good to know before buying one?

Hi Derek, can´t really say much about PS4 VR unfortunately.
Only got the chance to try it out at a friend´s home for a very short time. Noticed it is more comfortable to wear than my Occulus in comparision.

The resolution is very limited probably to the very low PS4 hardware specs. Something you notice at once even coming from the Rift.
Though it still was good looking and highly immersive flying with a HOTAS system in the latest Ace Combat title on a PS4. Truely impressive being able to do that stuff on a console! thumbsup

Hope Sony will come up with someting more sophisticated in the VR departement in their upcoming console generation.
With a lot more hardware power they could really close the gap to the PC VR systems when it comes to resolution.
Would love to play one of the upcoming Gran Turismo games in VR on a PS5! yep

Thanks Frank. Good point about the resolution. He's tried it on my nephew's Occulus, and loved it. But that's PC. He may not be as happy with the console VR.

Hi DBond. As I pointed out in the pic of the headset, this is my first VR experience so I cannot compare it to the PC. That being said, the PS4 VR seems well designed with very solid construction. Once again, not being able to compare it to the PC, the graphics are amazing and it has good 3D sound. I have played Gran Turismo Sport, a demo of the old classic BattleZone, and a demo of EVE Valkyrie which I purchased immediately and also will be purchasing BattleZone! All were incredible! And I already own Ace Combat 7 which is also VR, just haven't played it yet! Man that launch sequence in EVE Valkyrie will absolutely blow you away. One thing is for sure: Virtual Reality is not for the faint of heart!

Thanks very much Vince. I'm sure he'd like Ace Combat and GT. I'm mainly concerned about image quality and what I suppose amounts to refresh rate, but I'm not sure if that's a thing with VR headsets, but I want it to be smooth as I guess that's important for a proper experience and no motion sickness. Thanks a lot for your posts, timing is perfect smile
