Hello everyone, have not played this in many many years. I am mostly an offline campaign player. Which download should I focus on? 1.60?

There are two distinct modded directions for EAW. Take a look at the two sub-forums at the top of this EAW forum; AWPRO and EAW 1.6. Feel free to try both and use the one you like better. Actually you can use both, just not together.

If you need help, just ask.

The current 1.60 release is primarily for multiplayer. However, I am providing optional additions for offline single mission and and campaign players, and more will be added in the next couple of weeks.

Check the last couple of posts in the "Calling GameRanger Players" thread wink

The only version of EAWPro that is available from a link in this forum is an enhanced version of 1.2. There are the default planes and a European theatre which has more targets and bases. It has a different frontline system, which may need to be modified to accommodate the career files.
No other planesets or theatres are currently available.

You should take a visit here [European Air War Help Site and Archive] It's MarkEAW's help site it's at the bottom of all his posts

Also here's on nobody mentioned ,,It's stand alone just unzip it and fly and will get you flying fast ,,Then you can start checking out the other versions

Yes I am running 1.28c, I installed it over that build. I have the game. I can play a mission but it CTDs with "pic wrong resolution" upon exiting mission. Also tried Aces over Europe gold but no mouse cursor , so did not get as far as previous mod.

There are two philosophies of EAW, now. One is the code-group type, of which 1.28c is an example and the other is EAWPRO. Both types are mutually incompatible. You have the choice of running 1.28c on its own as a standalone, which can be further modded with codegroup-compatible material; downloading a more complete code-group pack, such as the self-contained 1.60 package; or alternatively, locate an original version of EAW (1.2), which are also freely available if you can't handily locate your own copy, over which one can install EAWPRO. All versions can be simultaneously run on the same hard-drive. Aces Over Europe should run on 1.28c. It might merely be a matter of creating a shortcut of the exe on your desktop and running this as administrator.

Well running as administrator did the trick! mouse cursor is back, unfortunately it CTDs loading any mission , quick or campaign. (aces over Europe gold + 1.28c)

I seem to be having the exact same issues posted by this user publicly at the download site, including mouse that was fixed with run as administrator and now the CTD loading mission

Sky High........ AOE is a stand alone install set up for glide..Unzip it run the installer and it runs right off..Just make any changes to the ini like change the player name from Modred to yours and change any in game settings to what you prefer..

The 1.28c MP2 may have an issue with the eaw.ini. Allow it to generate a new one or make sure (I think it is) Force Feedback to off =0.
I told Modred about it twice and it solved my issues. Anyhow good luck.

To confirm what I suspected I have just installed AoE Gold.
There are two exe files, the "aoe.exe" and the "eaw.exe".
The desktop shortcut points to the "aoe.exe".

EAW has problems with exes that are not named "eaw.exe".
There are some problems in single player mode, and they cannot be used at all in multiplayer.

The the "aoe.exe" is a re-named copy of the "eaw.exe", both are the Code Group's 1.28c MP02a, so use the "eaw.exe" to avoid these additional problems.

The installer also writes to the registry. Years ago the newer operating systems started to do strange things with "ini" files. As a result we advised people to install EAW, copy the folder, paste it somewhere else, and then uninstall EAW. I would recommend that users do the same with AoE.

1.28c and EAWPro files are incompatible frown
