I am very curious to see how different ED players approach engineering their ships since it shows what aspects they want to concentrate on and which aspects are secondary. So without further ado, here are some basic stats on my Fed Corvette:

Jump range 17.2
Shield health 5,696
Armor health 5,768
Armor rating 70

Weapons

4a beam laser
4a beam laser
3c beam laser

2d frag cannon
2d frag cannon
1e frag cannon
1e frag cannon

No worries bro. Click Use Full Editor, then click Insert Link. Paste your link, hit OK, give it a name and done. That's what I do.

I don't have a Vette so can't play. I started to build one in Coriolis to say here's how mine would be if I had one. But it's just too much stuff lol.

We hardly ever get new threads around here, and even fewer BUILD threads. I want to export my Vette build and post it up in all of it's glory. But no.

I did it anyway. Work is sloooow......

I don't own one of these beasts, so I don't really understand the hardpoint placement. I put one together how I think I would build it if I were to buy one today, given my current engineering limitations and Guardian access. I see Bo has the small hardpoints turreted, which makes me think they aren't in the best location for forward firing? Anyway, I swapped those turrets for burst lasers, one with phasing sequence and one with scramble spectrum but i have no idea if these would be viable wherever they are mounted. I have not unlocked the Guardian shield reinforcements so it's way less MJ than Bo's. A touch faster, a little better jump and more integrity since I can't shield tank it to such a degree.

Honestly I have no idea how to build one, I can't even think of what to put in the two empty class 7 slots. A couple HRPs sure, or maybe I'd be forced to unlock the GSRs finally. Two class 5s would take it to 4,487mj. If I had them, I would probably swap a couple of the HRPs for more GSRs.

I shouldn't be foolin' around with big ships smile

Hard points on the Vette are:
C4’s top behind bridge
C3bottom about 1/4 back from nose. A bad spot
C2’s both sides 1/3 back
C1’s top front on nose

The C4 is the only bad one I feel. It’s the only one the can’t really bear on targets above the ship. I feel that seekers are really the best fit there and I use them frequently. Magazine capacity is their biggest weakness. Obviously, I also use a gimballed MC in that spot also.

The C1’s are really used to apply experimental effects for the most part. I’ve mine in turrets to deal with those pesky Impy Couriers and such.

Here's mine I used a few modules from storage to build it.
Wing's Vette

I'm not worried about hull resistances as they got to get through those shields, and I've never lost them. Besides there's always someone to regen in our group.

DBond, you'll want a Point Defense mounted next to your cargo hatch for those nasty hatch breaker limpets.......... yep

Thanks for the tip! I'm a long way from having a Corvette, and anyway it's probably something I'll never own even when I can.

I just wanted to make sure I didn't sit out any build thread around here biggrin

Wingnuts your hull resistances look really good, due to the HRP stacking and lightweight armor helps too. It's solid and balanced across the board. It's only the thermal shield resistance that is low. But like you said you never lose them, so it's not something to worry about.

Your shields get 5,500 thermal mj according to Coriolis. I used thermal resist in that mock up and it gets 7,900. Bo's Vette on the other hand gets an ungodly 14,200 thermal mj. Explosive is 22,000! He obviously looked for good resistances in the build and went thermal resist on the shields to counter the prismatic's' low thermal, and added a thermal booster for good measure. Those shields are ridiculous!.

Thanks for the hardpoint spots Bo. Your Vette is something else man.

D, I wasn’t really looking at any resistances other than thermal during my last module swap out. Prior to that, my thermal was in the low single digit negatives! My reason for changing her up was to rectify that, the other resistances were totally incidental. But, I’ll take em anyway!

Just don't get into combat with those "spec ops" units which have the purple colored lasers that can go right through shields and hit your hull directly!

I’ve been encountering those types of engineered ships quite a bit lately. It was disconcerting at first. Whilst annoying, the minimal amount of bull damage is basically trivial. The only time it can be an issue is if I’m chaining in a HazRes, CNB, or CZ. Then, I just keep my eye on the hull %.

I’d hate to run into a wing where ALL of them were packing those effects, however.

Well it worked nicely I'd say eek

Thermal's the one to be concerned with in my view, since that is the type of weapon shields are weak to. I saw the numbers not too long ago, how F Dev worked the damage types against shield/hull. It's pretty significant. High thermal resist is the key to good shields in my opinion. For my combat builds especially. Some of my non-combat ships use reinforced, but that's more for absorbing burst damage before escaping. I don't have access to prismatics.

In a thread over on the Frontier boards someone posted this Vette. I share it here because the resists are out of this world.

High Resists Vette

I don't know if I'll ever own a Corvette, odds are against it I reckon. But if I did build one, I'd want shields like these. Resistances like this make the shields amazingly elastic, and by doing it this way, instead of through raw mj, recovery and recharge times are significantly lower. Combined with the hull engineering, this Vette has incredible survivability.

Talk to Bo DBond. His shields are or above 7,000.

Yes, it's right near the top of the thread. In a straight up comparison I prefer this one (from a defensive point of view), no disrespect intended because Bo's Vette is awesome.

To see why, have a look at the 'effective shield' numbers in the defence section at the bottom of the Coriolis page.

Still a work in progress.

Railguns hit way harder than coriolis says they do.

That Cobra is like the opposite of how I build my ships and I love it!

The way resistances stack on the HRPs really adds up in a build like that. essentially doubling the effectiveness. Nice one Blastman.

I've never seen this but again in the defence section

ARMOR WILL HOLD FOR

EVER

What?!!!!!!

Coriolis does have accuracy issues. I still prefer it over EDSY (aside from thermals).

To be fair, Coriolis is showing damage per second, not damage per shot or damage per volley. That said it could still be way off, I dunno.

You run this thing in stealth mode, as well, or I used to five years ago. Is there a way to set my systems to auto manufacture more heatsinks?
