I can not wrap my head around the ability of any WW1 pilot to fly those early planes in the winter, let alone a Russian winter. But I do love those helmets! great pics, Elephant

elephant, that is a nice group of photos you've found there. I believe some of them are in Alan Durkota's massive work, "The Imperial Russian Air Service, Famous Pilots and Aircraft of World War One".
