As ever still enjoying this immersive flight sim. However, there has been a lack of news on continuing development of this and also the lack of further news on future expansions being worked on. Is this still continuing to be developed, or has it been put on the back burner for work on WOFF?

Yep i'd love to see if there's any info forthcoming regarding WOTR also, Pol and WM are probably knee deep in WOFF at the minute but i also would love to see new aircraft/expansions etc in WOTR.

Yep, would love to hear something official, but I do know, as Adger says, they are knee deep in alligators developing WOFF.

I think it is reasonable to assume it is a matter of economics and limited resources. I think they are caught between growing the title but also generating enough operating income and making tough decisions. I don't think it is any secret that WOFF is their more proverbial cash cow - with the far bigger user base and the far greater income generation (unlike BOS - which see's its WWII offering being its major income generator and its WWI offering struggle, for OBD I am almost certain it is the opposite). I believe the two Marks have to carefully navigate between generating an income and growing a title - and with the current state of affairs in the world, I am certain the former is taking far more priority. Just my two cents.

Hope everyone is well and safe and healthy.

Glad you guys are still enjoying WOTR. Yes we are a small team and working on WOFF at the moment as we have posted on the website and forum. We have often worked on both at once, and we can sometimes do that. Doing it constantly takes its toll and is much slower overall. Once we are nearer the end of this WOFF dev cycle we will turn our attention for WOTR - we have some ideas smile. We do intend to keep both sims alive.

yeah Thank you Pol for taking the time out of your busy schedule to post. That's great news and I for one am really looking forwards to the future of both of your sims.
TBH your sims are really the only ones that I ever spend a great deal of time with, others come and go but yours get better and better with each patch/update. Your interaction with your community is what makes OBD head and shoulders above most other Dev teams..again cheers mate.

In the WWI-period OBD is alone without any real competition, but i.m.o. OBD has in the WWII-period many competitors with bigger resources and newer engines against they will not consist on the long run...
So it would be better for OBD, specially for incoming reasons to develop further on WOFF in the future...

I am sure it is nice to be King of the WWI sim mountain, but there is no challenge to their reign really. I am sure this, WOFF, is their Cash cow, but WOTR has a lot of possibility for future growth and revenue generation. It really depends on how bad the boys at OBD want it. Having only 3 flyable aircraft is a hard sell these days and WOFF has over 80 flyable aircraft if I am not mistaken? WOFF has been around for many years and WOTR has been around for 2 years and it deserves the dedicated effort to broaden it's player base, content and general appeal to simmers who want SP immersion even deeper than what is available in the market at present. Optimizing what is already in WOTR will go along way also.

I kinda dis agree because of the limiting game engine. It may be a better course to scale down changing the environment for example, the Burma theater or North Africa against Rommel. smaller engagements

Stimulating ideas gents' - the "mini-modular" WW2 approach works fine in SF2. Might also work really well in WOTR, as Carrick has suggested - different theaters being developed with, perhaps, 5 to 10 different aircraft per theater, maybe as add-on packs. Nothing wrong with such an approach at all. I'm sure OBD will think up workable ways in the future to continue development of WOTR.

Happy flying all,
Von S

P.S. On a side-note, was not able to load FM tweaks in WOTR since the aircraft cfg files most likely call up locked/invisible xfm (flight model) files - so I will leave further expansion of different marks and variants of Spits, Hurries, BF109s, etc., to OBD. Happy flying in stock WOTR. smile EDIT: FM tweaks now available under separate, relevant thread.

~ For my various FM/AI/FPS/DM Mods. for First Eagles 2, WoFF, RoF & WoTR, and tips for FlightGear, recommended is to check over my CombatAce profile (https://combatace.com/profile/86760-vons/) and to click on the "About Me" tab while there. ~
