How is this? Has it improved? I hear they stopped development.

Yeah,it stopped a while ago. I can't offer any insight into how it is,I only got it today.

I did pop onto a MP server to see what gives. All was well until I made it onto the escape ship and after that it became unplayable with awful lag. I might lower the detail levels but it ran fine in the doomed ship.

*edit* According to some Steam users there is very poor performance when near space stations,maybe that was what I was experiencing.

Also,when I loaded up SP,you have to do the same tutorial to get to the rescue ship as you do in MP only this time it would not allow me to exit the ship despite having the hacking tool. A bug for sure and probably one of many to come.

This is frustrating. I just re-started SP and I still cannot get past the locked door,the hacking tool does nothing so I went back to MP because it at least worked there. Had to start again of course but guess what? Can't continue there either.

I'm so glad this was free...

Just guessing here as I havent played it yet, but you might need to power up (energy cell) the door module before you try to hack it.

One of the reasons the game didn´t hit big time was the fact that there´s no hand holding in game, you had to figure it all out own your own. Hardcore survival in space, some loved it, some didn´t. That was not for everybody, so game was/is for a few only. Not saying that´s the reason it´s not working for you, but I remember reading how hardcore it was back then, so just saying.

I managed it first time in MP,there was nothing strange about how I went about it. You enter a room,try the door,get told to find a hacking tool (in same room) and use it on the door.

I've just deleted the game,removed the leftover folder and removed a folder that I found in appdata and am now re-installing it. Fingers crossed.

*EDIT* Still the same but I persevered with the SP and for some reason you have to put the hacking tool in your hand (it does not say that and I definitely did not do that before in MP).

Ah well,onwards we go.

Yes, I just tried it and yeah, you have to put the hacking tool in your hand. Managed to grab the rescue ship and claimed it, Iam now in the pilot seat and have to head off somewhere, just thought I would jump in here and let you know that it´s all working for now...

No it didn´t. I open my inventory and moved it to my hand.

Would you mind trying the MP,you have to do the same thing to get to the rescue ship,just to satisfy my curiosity.

*edit* I'm such a lazy a$$ asking you to do it Red so I just did it myself. Yes,I had to equip the hacking tool to hack the door in MP but I swear the first time I didn't. Maybe I am going mad? Being in isolation for 7 days is having its effect on me I think.

Glad you´re back with COTW. I got my walking 26 miles achivement unlocked yesterday, so yeah doing alot of walking! I do have the ATV, but only use it once in awhile. Iam using the Eckers .30-06 rifle with polymer tip amo (weapon pack 3) most of the time. Along with a Koter CB-65 bow with the Brightsight rangefinder scope for close/silent kills (high-tech weapon pack), the traces arrows are neat!

I really enjoyed the game and it was fun to coop in. Getting ganked was heart wrenching though. After a while though the game just doesnt have much content and it has a ton of bugs and its now abandoned. Sad day.

I'm really struggling with this.

I made it into the escape ship and now I have to go and search for a nanite core or something. I see the derelict in the HUD and head towards it. I assume it's moving or I just don't understand the controls (which I think are as janky as all hell). I see that 'M' matches speed with the target but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have the derelict selected on the RHS display. It always seems to be moving away from me so how I'm supposed to leave my ship and board the derelict I don't know. Any pointers?

*edit* One thing I know I missed is that although I turned the ship power to on I didn't deploy the solar panel. I'll correct that but at the moment I can't dedicate too much time to this,just 30 mins here and there is all I can take.

It is janky as hell. But the problem you are running into is that you are trying to match velocity to the starting derelicts (which wont work because of a bug in how the game generates the starting derelicts.) you have to just match it as best you can manually and then be quick and fly back to your ship and readjust. As soon as you move out of the starting area with the few derelicts everything will start working properly.

I think the issue is that the starting derelicts are linked to your starting habitat somehow in order to make them spawn so close. So when you match speed it matches the speed of your habitat (which isnt the speed/direction of the derelicts.)

It should have been fixed like 3 years ago but they never fixed it. Now its abandoned and wont ever get fixed. So really, i'd suggest now that you know what you are doing. Make a new game and rush through the first part as fast as you can. The faster you can the closer those starting derelicts will remain. Then once you clean them you can regroup and take stock and go slow again.

Thank you for the reply Master,it is appreciated. This game is intriguing and infuriating in equal amounts. I'm not sure if I should just delete it and save myself a load of aggravation and play something else. We'll see. I do have time on my hands.
