So yesterday I tried to download the free trial of Nevada test range, it took from 11am until 4pm and I have a 60 up and down connection (I DL'd RDR2 in 45 mins) the map is like 30gb so is the Persian Gulf map as well, HTTP is slow so I used the Torrent and it was 3mb/sec. After all of that the game would not launch I had to do a repair. Is this like the best they can do with a Modern Flight sim? the netcode must be #%&*$# too because I can get 60fps but on a server with 85 ping and 2 people on it I get all kinds of stutters even if I run lowered settings. Does anyone else run into these kinds of things? I can run IL2 BOS on medium high Graphics in a populated server with no problems and I think it's way better looking and I have no problems, I don't get it.

I repaired and it took all of a minute, fails because of runtime error in DCS.exe - I give up

Well your PC is ancient, four generation old GPU. A low end one at that. Slow, ancient low end CPU as well. 8GB of RAM isn't going to help. It will struggle with any semi modern game.

Other DCS issues aside, your low end PC isn't going to be able to run it. I suggest buying a new PC. You can get good deals on AMD Ryzen CPUs. A new generation is coming out soon so if anything, you can get the current Ryzen 3*** series on discount likely. GPU you might want to wait until end of the year when Nvidia comes out with new stuff. But if you need to upgrade now I'd look at Nvidia's RTX series.

My pc runs it smooth when not in a server, 60-70 fps and the latest problems seem to stem from the attempted install of the nevada map. It looks like I'll have to uninstall it to fix because nothing works not even repair. My MB is about a year old from purchase and the CPU was bought recently I'm not likely to be building anything real soon on that side but I was able to enjoy flying the Mustang up until these free trials came along and buggered everything up. I'd just like to know why it has buggered it.
edit- believe me I'd like to have a better rig but it was a budget build to begin with

Could you go to your DCS install path/Mods/aircraft and Mods/terrains? Are there any unowned modules or terrains there, except Nevada?

You have to uninstall the modules manually at the end of the 2-day trial period or the authorization checker goes berserk.

I uninstalled it from the module manager after it failed to load (it would just crash) then I got a error on the exe so I tried to repair it which only took a minute still same error. Now I'm reinstalling the whole sim which takes forever to download it's like 30 gb which is what the map was as well. I know I'm at the low end on specs I've had this sim since Lock-On and I was really miffed when they screwed me out of Black Shark 1 and then went to 64 bit so I had to upgrade my OS and after all that it doesn't look much different from the first version. So it's just par for the course, I'll stick to playing with what I got and one day when I can actually upgrade I think right now all I really need is a better Vid card and more Ram but I'll avoid this sim in the future as I have read all the cons from various forums and how they treat their customers and how poorly optimized it is. Nothing against you guys with awesome rigs I just think there are better sims out there than this one.

I'm glad it's not just me then. I had no idea there was a free trial of aircraft/terrains so when I first saw the F-14 appear in my module manger I was confused. What then followed was all sorts of shenanigans as the modules added and then removed themselves.

It's not user friendly,no indication of what was going on if like me you don't frequent the DCS forums or follow any streamers/YouTubers. I think it's all back to how it was,no extra modules still showing.

Thanks Valderini,I checked my folders,nothing there that shouldn't be. I just had a quick look at that link you posted. Quite honestly,if you have to go through all that palaver to fix the game something is very wrong.

I tried the Spit and the 109K-14 but the game would tell me I had 2 days and that the module was not allowed and would be disabled all in the same window and then after disabling I was not able to join servers because of Pure Client nonsense, I think it pretty stupid that they haven't got this better worked out considering what they charge for a module. Heck ROF never charged that much for their planes and IL-2 at least gives you a few airplanes and a map with Bodenplatte, sheesh

The K4 is hilarious. 4 of the dials weren’t working properly, the flight model in bad weather/outside of the envelope is hilarious, a lot of systems modelling was bugged to oblivion, the manual is inaccurate, the training missions weren’t working properly, the damage model and the AI FM are something from the 1990’s, and the SP content is nothing to write home about and proof DCS is a terrible platform.

But hey, the buttons are clickable and there are enough idiots that think that a high price and clickable buttons means a high fidelity sim, so why not ask enough money to keep the pyramid scheme going eh?

and here I've been waiting 5 freakin hours to download the sim again, I must be crazy to tie up my PC this long just to be disappointed again when I get some other stupid error. Bodenplatte is really starting to look really good.

And I was right cant install because of a corrupt file even repair wont fix it, eff this game

I did the HTTP download overnight and installed, everything works fine. I even flew the F-86. still get the odd freeze now and again but I can fly now
