So I bought an ASUS FX505 DT laptop back in August. Just over 2 months of having it, (past 60 day replacement warranty of course)
I noticed a screen defect that appeared at start up. There were very visible lines, very noticeable on a solid color background. If the background is a picture is not as noticeable. After 20 to 30 minutes the screen is ok.
It has been in for service 3 times, last on in January.
First time they replaced the motherboard, got it back issue appear almost immediately. 2nd time they could not recreate it, told them it had to be solid background at start up, limited time frame to detect etc. Nothing was done FRUSTRATING.
3rd time they finally replaced the screen. But here I am about 6 week later and the issue is back again.
I place nothing on top of the laptop, and when laptop is hooked up to an external monitor there is no issue.
My question is, does anyone know what this is ?

I would guess the connection / ribbon cable or shielding but I've never seen this exact before.

The fact if it goes away after 20-30 min. that doesn't really seem it would it be the cable.

Its actually hard to tell exactly what the condition is. Physical or just rendering / GPU or the windows driver?

Have you tried another screen resolution? Another Video driver?

Other possibilities - well if they replaced the motherboard that leaves the RAM, CPU or Video or a power or heating problem, unless its interference / shielding or you have a RF source nearby.

The main thing is if it goes away after 20 -30 min you might have to tolerate it if you can't convince the the company to give you a replacement.

Or if you have some buyer insurance on your credit card used or whatnot.

I found some stuff on some similar googling - or really https://duckduckgo.com/

It is being replaced, but Im betting I get a refurbished model Warranty carries over. What a joke. If you didn't know, ASUS warranty goes by manufacturing date, not purchase date. This a new one to me. Made in July bought in August, so I only had an. 11 month warranty to start with. 4 services in 5 months. So I'll likely get a refurbished model with a 3 month warranty.
Kicking myself for ever thinking buying a gaming laptop was a good idea.
