Well, that's the end of my mushrooms as they needed to be eaten so I added them to my cabbage soup... Man, most produce goes fast even when you try to ration it, but while not letting any of it expire (I don't waste food, especially not now). One possible solution we're looking into is the framer's market sellers out here who are selling produce and eggs from their homes. As I understand it, everything is laid out by the street with simple cash prices. You pick what you want and leave the cash while they observe from a distance (there's often somewhat of an honor system out in the boonies). I'd rather not have to leave my house but this seems like a much better idea to me than driving into town and going inside of a store. Fresh produce (and soon eggs) is all that we're lacking but we're used to eating so much of it. My father plowed a new vegetable garden today but I forgot to ask if he planted anything yet and how long it'll take to grow. That soup looks delicious. combined with some nice bread i bet that makes a wonderful meal. I always buy produce, fruit, and eggs from local farmers market. After the stay-at-home ruling it was not possible for a few weeks. Fortunately, several farms setup order sites on the website. So it was possible get most produce and fruit. On Saturday simply walk to the usual market site and the farmer was there with everything in a box ready to carry away. If you have too much produce or fruit look into pickling and preserving. It is easy to do and can keep for several months or longer.

As soon as this COVID thing blows over I'll be heading to Cracker Barrel for my biscuits & gravy. We had our first outing to The Orangerie in Vlakenswaard yesterday, had a Kofie Verkeered and geitenkaas salad met pijnboompitten honing en walnoten The Orangerie is a small café that serves very good food, the coffee verkeered is like a latte and is served with a small glass of amaretto with whipped cream on top I usually just pour it into the coffee the salads from the cafe are great and they have a big selection of them, this one was toasted goats cheese with walnuts and pine nuts drizzled with honey and balsamico vinegar. We were there to pick up my prescription as I had run out of pills just over a month ago, and I had been borrowing pills until I could get back over to get them, I was down to 4 left and no more until the border opened again, which it did on monday.

Don't forget Pretzels, Mark. The real ones. Not the crunchy in the plastic bag. Many years ago when my wife and I would frequent the malls, she'd get a Cinnabon Classic and I'd get a Auntie Anne’s pretzel, then we'd share as usual. That's it, I gotta have a homemade pretzel soon!

Now I want one of those pizza oven!! Do they make them larger to cook more than one pizza at a time? You can get them bigger yes, this was just a cheap one from Aldi, the biggest difference is the stone to cook on, that really does make the pizza, my oven in the kitchen really does not go high enough in temperature for a proper pizza. Yeah Mark bread is my downfall too, keep your chocolates and candies, give me a fresh baked loaf and I'm in heaven Pasta I'm not so keen on, though don't tell my wife I do make a pasta dish with orecchiette, it has a seafood cocktail and Mediterranean vegies with a creamy garlic sauce I alternate that dish with the same pasta and substitute bacon for the fish with the Mediterranean vegies and a herby creamy tomato sauce, my son prefers the bacon to the fish but I like both. Croissants are for Sunday here, I usually bake a few for a Sunday brunch.
