There's an update out today for Rainbow Six Siege and it is 100.7 GB in size according to Steam. I'm pretty sure this is the largest game patch/update I've ever downloaded. Has anyone here ever downloaded any larger ones?

That sounds like a lot of unnecessary re-downloading to me, like an inefficient patch. I mean, is it adding 100gb, replacing 100gb, something in between? I wonder if some update that large has a major rendering change at its root, necessitating new textures for everything or something like that. Or refiltered sound files or something.

Those are all very valid points and I didn't dig that deep to be honest. I just saw the total download size as reported by Steam and freaked out!

Utterly ridiculous. However. Good on them for continuing to develop and support the game. I know it's doing well for them.
Unfortunately, as long as people love this thing, we'll probably never again get a Rainbow game with a proper Clancy-esque story campaign.

I have a better chance of going on a date with Alice Eve than that happening!

I've gotten to the point where I'll just uninstall a game if the update is excessively large. There's no excuse for this. Millennials are #%&*$# lazy and need to learn how to code.

I recall reading back when this happened before, that the developers were apparently repackaging the game into a footprint that suited consoles. There was supposed to be some upper limit on data, and even the maps had to be redone a bit to ensure everything fit on console storage limits. I don't know what's up this time around, but yea, this is the 2nd time I can recall that R6 has had to fully redownload the repackaged game files.

This time I'm likely out, though. Huge download.

100 GB? Not MB? Windows 10 is only 15 GB.

65gb base game because they changed the algorithm to make the files smaller, and 40 for the extra hd texture dlc. wildlands had bigger patchs, because instead of downloading just the update it installed ALL THE GAME plus the updates on uplay, the biggest patch was 95 gb

Yup, this is exactly correct. I have the high res texture pack installed so that's why my download was as big as it was.
