I think that if you're really into airplanes, then you can't accept seeing a cartoon of one in a movie. I am REALLY into airplanes. I want to see a real one in a film. I don't care if it's not the exact model that it's supposed to be or the engine is the wrong one. It's a real airplane. And the maneuvers you see it do in a film are more impressive because of it. What's so amazing about a cartoon plane doing a snap roll or pulling out of a dive a few feet above the ground? It's a drawing for Pete's sake. You can make a CGI airplane do anything. You can make it fly backwards if you wanted to. So what? But make a real one do that and I'll be on the edge of my seat yelling , "#%&*$# that guy can fly!"

. As far as 109s, Buchon's are literally license built 109s I don't see how fake CGI ones are "better". They did a pretty good job in literally every WWII aerial combat movie since...forever.
The Merlin engine of the Buchon gives it a totally different look from an actual Bf-109.

That's ridiculous. To assume that because I prefer GOOD CGI to poor stand-in but "real" aircraft makes me not a fan of aircraft and accepting of unrealistic "cartoon" flight modeling is just nonsense.
I've seen Bf-108's stand in as Bf-109's in movies too, they're real aircraft so that makes that ok even though their performance is nothing like that of a real 109 hence making the 108 a cartoon of the 109. See, l too can use hyperbole to create a ridiculous take on your preference.

The trailer reminded me of the World of Warships adverts we get on TV here, still I'll give it a watch when it comes out.
Watching the trailer reminded me that I wanted to look up the functions and controls of the Rangekeeper Fire Control Computer that ships were fitted with, I did see a really old one made of brass that was hung on the wall of the Hartlepool BSAC Diving Club at the harbour in Hartlepool, but it is nothing like the Ford Mk1 Computer.
I have been reading David Webber's Safehold series, which while a bit wordy, is telling the story of the Charis Navy going from basically triremes to steam ships (at the point I'm at in the story) via square riggers and schooners in a matter of a few years, brief mention was made on range finders in the books but so far nothing more sophisticated.
So, a quick search lead me to this archive site https://archive.hnsa.org/doc/firecontrol/index.htm which goes through basic internal and external ballistics and the different components that act on the fall of shot.

Yeah, a U-Boat surfacing and going guns to guns with a destroyer is a bit much, I think.
Does not the DD in The Good Shepherd get into a gun fight with a U-boat at one point? I thought I remembered that (it has been a long time since I read it, though).
But yeah, it looks like the battle scenes are over the top. I will wait and see what the end product is, but it is doubtful it is going to upset Enemy Below as the ultimate DD vs sub movie.

I find it interesting how the guys in the video are wearing Waffen SS uniforms and not the standard German Heer uniforms. I'm sure that was by design.

On the other hand, here's another World War 2 movie that just looks bad. I presume it was set for the cinema but with theaters shut down across the world, it's on Apple TV.
Every time I see the same B-movies slogan: mission to end the war... based on the untold story...
If the story has never been told, how did the filmmakers get the info as basis for the movie?

My educated guess is that they mean the story has never been published in print or depicted in any documentary, tv show or previous movie.

Nope. I just looked up the production info on the film on IMDB and this is a straight to streaming/dvd release.

They are a brand new streaming service so they are trying to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible. It's going to be a tough battle against the heavyweights like Netflix, Disney + and Amazon.

"based on the untold story" just means they haven't ripped it off into a crappy movie yet, and boy do they mean to rectify that now.
