I found how Inara ranks pilots.

These rankings are not official and are based on Inara commanders wishing to participate. The rankings are calculated JUST from the values gained via 'Import Frontier Data' feature to ensure all the data provided are valid and not altered in any manner.

The score for the main ladder is based on Combat, Trade and Exploration ranks, including their progress (1.000 points for each tier) with the addition of points for other activities (bounties, combat bonds, trades, scans, etc.) for a few hundred or thousand points, to differentiate commanders on high ranks. No credits/assets values are used.

I just did the automatic Frontier data importing thing, so that's why i suddenly have the medals I think. I was using EDMC for this previously. At # 4,251 I am only one point behind some dude named Osiris-Rex

LOL, what a noob

So I had a look at the Codex, and I have actually played Elite 60 hours MORE than Steam shows. I remember now that in my early days of playing, I had trouble launching the game through Steam. So for a few weeks I played by launching straight from the exe, and it looks like that means the Steam hours were not accruing. So instead of 930 hours I'm actually at 990.

Since hitting Deadly I have been dusting off my other ships. I flew one bounty hunting session in the FDL, one or two in the Krait, and a few more in my ultra-fast Courier. Managed to reach 3% Deadly! It's progress, but slow going, which we all knew already. Money's not bad, and I used some of the proceeds to upgrade the fuel scoop on the Orca to A class. Those be expensive!

The Courier though. In order to make it combat worthy I had to trade off some of the speed potential of course. It could be much faster still. As it is it's still blazing, nearly 800 m/s boost and 2-pips as fast as my Krait boosts. Insane. Closing speeds and escape ability are unmatched. I worked hard on defenses while engineering, but it's still rather fragile. So the potential for destruction is real, and this adds a cool facet to the combat. Most ships engineered to the nines are in no peril, and we all have some of these. My FDL for example has 1700 mj and high resistances and integrity and I don't think I've ever had my shield shot away let alone neared destruction.

But in the Courier, engineered though it is, destruction is just a mistake away. When Bo and I flew some dual-Courier combat last spring I died in a collision, my fifth destroyed ship. I hate losing ships, so this is always in the back of my mind, and this adds a lot to the experience. Big, heavy hitters are cool. But small ship combat is way underrated in Elite, and lots of fun. I'm going to encourage Wingy's off -hand comment idea in the other thread suggesting a small-ship event. So if you don't have a small combat ship let's build you one. If anyone wants to build a Courier I have lots of ideas

Odd.. I used to see my INARA ranking, but I no longer do. I even did the IMPORT FRONTIER DATA thing, even though I already send data to INARA with EDMC...

Yeah, I had mentioned I could not see your ranking. I would have suggested it's a sharing setting, but if you can't see it either then obviously it's something else. Maybe you broke it. Off the charts

I moved up 140 places over the past couple of days, but this fluctuates as the other commanders around me jockey for position haha.

I played some more last night, doing some bounty hunting in the Courier, and then later some combat scavenging in the Krait. In between, I took the Orca out for a few sightseeing missions. I do a lot of scanning. Wake scanning and just normal ship scanning. So it seems I am constantly filling up one encoded mat or another. Then you get the inventory full message and it's a mat lost.

So I flew to an encoded mat trader to trade some of the full ones up and clear some space. I noticed that there was just one encoded mat I had zero of, Modified Embedded Firmware. Matter of fact that entire bottom row of the mat trader matrix is low. I seem to have most others in abundance, but not those encoded, encoded ones at the bottom. Modified Embedded Firmware is a G5 mat, and an important one for me as it's used in overcharged weapons, of which many if not all of my multi-cannons are. I use it often.

I checked the passenger lounge and saw a good sightseeing mission that had MEF as a reward. Three stops, non-criminal, laid back dude and his chums for 5 million plus five MEF! Total jump distance about 350 light years. I took that mission from Dvorsi and flew it and took the mat reward, then flew the Orca to a tech broker to buy a C3 GFSDB, and then did some remote engineering to bring the Orca a little further along, mostly lightweighting the life support and sensors. The upshot is a jump of 50+ with a class 5 cabin.

I checked the lounge and there was another one just like the first. Matter of fact, there were quite a few tasty Elite-level sightseeing missions. Best sightseeing boards I have seen in a long time. So I ran another for five million plus five MEF, and then another! Fifteen million plus 15 MEF, plus new explo data. A good session.

In all my time in Elite I have purchased paint jobs for just three ships, Krait, Courier and FDL. I hate all of the Courier choices. The Krait one is pretty cool, and the FDL is just a gun-metal grey that seems military-ish. But most kinda suck and do not inspire me to fork over my hard earned cash. But the Orca has some very nice schemes available and I'll be picking one up once I can decide. It's such a cool ship. It's the only large-pad ship I still own. Flies great, amazing view, good performance. My Orca rests at 16% heat. NPCs have a hard time tracking it, and it makes a good smuggler too.

When I logged on my intention was to use the Orca for some rescue missions to both bump my superpower rank and get closer to the Captain medal on Inara. But there are no burning stations. So I flew the sightseeing instead. Thanks a lot Adlabs!

Strange... I know I used to have a rank. A lot of my rank/reputation, credit,fleet information is totally current via EDMC but I show NO INARA badges or ranks...as shown in attachment.

Very odd. IMPORT from FRONTIER is definitely ON now too. Not sure I went into Elite Dangerous since I did it, so maybe no update was triggered????

Yeah, mine looked like that a few days ago. I did the auto frontier link and the medals popped up and I got the ranking. I've also been using EDMC as well. There are some issues, as I am 4% Deadly. Last night Inara said I was 3% and now it says 1%, so it appears the data retrieval is a bit wonky.

By the way, it's mighty impressive you went from Squire to King in a week

The HIP 8444 to HIP 8758 run was pure PROFIT both in Imperial Rank and Credits..

BTW, when I did the Update from Frontier, it gave the option of FRONTIER or STEAM. I chose FRONTIER. That's what I use for EDMC and it works.... Very strange. Auto-Update says 30 hours till next update so it must have done one...but never populated in INARA... strange...

Recluse, from the Galaxy page down the left side select Rankings & Statistics and it should show where you are. Mine on that page still shows pioneer under exploration. a puzzle?

Tried that. Couldn't find any way to SEARCH and my Commander name doesn't pop out. Just starts at the first page. ODD because previously, like years ago, it DID and I had an INARA ranking..

There's something on the site that says that new authorization is required every 30 days.

The auto-update is being disabled after some time. Where is the problem?
Currently, Frontier's service requires a re-authentication after 30 days. For such reason, you need to perform a new re-authentication/manual import after this period to make the auto-updates start to work again. This "problem" was reported to Frontier and they may or may not adjust this requirement in the future.

For what it's worth I just now re-imported the Frontier data and it updated everything. Things like jump distance, systems visited and bounty claims were all old. Looks like it updated all of that, although the combat % is still off by a point. I have been importing each day but the accuracy of it seems to vary. I wonder if using both EDMC and auto-Frontier conflict somehow?

Funny, the other night, I was getting messages from EDMC saying TOO MANY UPDATES IN A SHORT TIME.. CANCELLING UPDATES FOR 1 HOUR...

Then it started working again and never saw the message. When I try to UPDATE on INARA, I get the message that AUTO UPDATES ENABLED and the 30 day wait. Cannot seem to force it. I went into ED earlier and EDMC properly updated.... That said, I was pretty sure I already had Frontier Updates turned on, but maybe not

I hope you can get it working. Maybe try clearing cookies or cache and see if it makes a difference?

I hopped on last night for a couple of hours solo. Flew some more bounty hunting in the Krait, scavenging as I went. I am now 6% Deadly. It's slow going sure, but I gotta say it's going a little faster than I feared it would. I am prioritizing Elite and Deadly but I'll shoot whatever is in front of me if it's wanted. Still a very long way to go, and I doubt I'll hit it this year. Plus, I am worried that if I do hit triple Elite I will struggle for motivation. Good progress thus far anyway.

Also took the Orca out for another sightseeing mission. 3 hops, 7 million plus Rep+++++ which moved the needle 3% on Viscount. Ugg. Usually the destinations are near earth-likes and water worlds so while I'm there I can make a few million more by sticking them like a pin cushion. Money's not much of a motivator these days since there's nothing I want to buy really. But it helps make the mission feel more worthwhile.

Bo and I had a productive stint at the CNB in AASGAY. I added 2% to my Combat rank and he added 4%. Saw you come online but I didn't know if you were in our PG or SOLO.. Should have messaged you to join us..

I didn't see you on, but Bo was when I joined I think. I reasoned he's an early riser and would be off to the sack in short order.

I should add that it's very likely I'll miss any in-game messages, so if you send me one and I do not reply it's just because I did not see it. The top panel on the HUD is off-screen unless I sit back in my seat. But when I am flying I lean forward a bit and the 6dof of TIR zooms in a bit. Helps my old eyes, but removes the comms panel from view.

4% of Deadly rank is a hell of a lot of kills! Especially winged-up. You guys were on it.

I messaged you either Tues or Wed nite when I saw u logged in. Figured you missed the text, it is very easy to no see. We should be able to get a gang together tonite or tomorrow for some small ride mayhem. Vacillating on pickin up a Cobra 4 and engineering to the hilt.

Looking at my fleet and I have some Engineered modules I can cannibalize off other ships to fit in the Vulture. I started Engineering a COBRA the other night too, but I need to visit the MATERIAL TRADER to go much further..

I really try my best to avoid those because they GOUGE you to the extreme. It's usually better to spend the time to try and find those level 4 or level 5 materials instead of trading for them.
