For me I'm pretty sure it is "LOTR: The Return of the King" with a run time of 201 minutes. I'm just asking since I recently read a pretty interesting article about how the 3+ hour theatrical release might soon be a thing of the past due to declining attendance and stiff competition from the streaming services.

The Lord Of The ring movies are probably the ones for me as well, but I think the Thin Red Line might have been longer on its initial release. If it wasn't, it sure felt longer...

LOL Yeah, the movie was a real snoozer for me too. I just looked it up and the movie was 170 minutes long.

Another LOTR movie here, but the first one The Fellowship of the Ring.

My girlfriend said we should see it (insisted in fact) and as it started I thought 'what the f is this $hit'?

I remember looking at my watch about 20 minutes from the end and thinking how are they going to draw this to a conclusion? Then she told me that this was the first of a trilogy. I genuinely didn't realise that as fantasy films were not of interest to me and I didn't follow them.

I've never seen the other 2 and probably never will.

Same here, also with Harry Potter (although neither in a theater). Just can't do it.

I've seen less than a dozen newer theater movies since 1990, I'd say "Titanic" (195 min. / 3 hrs. 15 min.).

Gone with the Wind, 234 min. I was a kid and fell asleep several times and couldn't sit still and wanted to go home. Check out these other long films https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_films

You obviously saw a re-release of the film since I doubt you were a kid in 1939. biggrin

Not too long after. I drew the line when she decided to drive home drunk to her mother after an argument we had (not about LOTR) and she reversed into my house and blamed me. Women, meh.

Oh god! the interminable ending, with me busting for a wee after one of those overlarge Colas and being in the middle of a row didn't want to disturb the other viewers.

I wasn't aware of the viewing length of 'Schindler's List', so rivetted was I watching it.

Longest film I watched was some Yoko Ono all-night bollocks in my pretentious quasi-intellectual youth in 1969 in the 'Electric Cinema' down Portobello Road, the hub of English Hippiedom counter-culture in 1969.

Longest-seeming film: 'Inception', during which I nearly lost the will to live,

I'll go all in: "Berlin Alexanderplatz" by Rainer Werrner Fassbinder. 15.5 hours, found limited theatrical releases in 1980.

Wasn’t there a full length re-release of Das Boot some years ago?
I don’t think there’s much I’d sit for 15 hrs for, you can have that one Ssnake. LOL

Titanic 3D, felt longer, i don't know if it was. Schindlers list went forever but good movie. Peter Jacksons King Kong felt long. I fell asleep in the latest Godzilla movie in draggy moments so i class that as 'long enough'

Anything with Kristen Stewart specially those Twilight movies. Also those Hunger Games movies with Jennifer Lawrence who I don't find attractive. One of the many stupid things we guys endure to get girls: chick flicks. I had to watch every Twilight and every Hunger Games for love and country.
