Where/how?
There's an additional storyline about Bobbie on Mars, but that seems to come from a short story that the Coreys actually wrote. I find the series to add a few things earlier than they are revealed in the books (e.g. Bobbie is introduced well before "Caliban's War"/season 3), but overall I still think that it very much respects the original source material. That not every casting decision is in line how we envisaged certain characters is something that doesn't bother me too much. Frankie Adams is not a female version of The Mountain, but credit where it's due, at least she's from Samoa.

Finally got around to watching the latest season.
My biggest complaint was they seemed to throw physics that they've normally followed out the window.
Mostly involving when they shoot a ships engines (which happens several times this season) it just comes to a complete stop like someone slammed the space brakes. At least that's what the camera would show.

Otherwise, I enjoyed it. Lack of action? Maybe. but the internal fighting in the OPA as well as shifting priorities and sentiments on Mars made for an interesting story and nice setups for the next season.

I always took it at the frame of reference still accelerating at a constant rate while the targeted ship immediately goes into freefall. Most of all space flight described in The Expanse is based on constantly accelerated flight, even if rapidly changing in combat situations. But maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.

Ssnake,
I'm sure that's probably what's happening, it just doesn't look that way on the screen. To me, it just appears a bit silly.
Then again, it's a blank, black background, how else are they supposed to frame it?

Exactly. You can't do much to convey velocities, only relative accelerations. Then again, at the end of the day space combat in cinema and TV is drama, not an undergraduate physics course.

I don't but if Amazon hasn't posted anything official yet on their website then no one will know until they do so.

After the hype from before last season's premier I wondered if I had missed something.
Not been gaming or watching much TV of late so it could have easily passed me by

Hopefully season 5 will be a return to the quality and great showmanship of previous seasons. Season 4 was so lackluster, but as others have explained here, the book season 4 was based on was pretty bad, too.

Oh if it is like the book and they add in a bit more of Amos' Churn back story then it could be very good and quite dark. I did struggle reading the Nagata/Inaros arc in the books and had to go back and re-read it to get the events straight in my head

Just revisiting this thread because season 5 is here (I haven’t started it yet) rather than the new thread. Referencing your quote, no, Ilus/New Terra didn’t matter...except to the people who were trying to make a life there. To them their own little itty bitty piece of the universe matters quite a bit, and the whole series (books and TV) puts the spotlight on the little itty bitty people and things as they’re doing things that affect the great big whole. Not perfectly, almost always without enough information, and sometimes out of naïveté.

Do you guys have any theories on why the Expanse never became a "water cooler" show? I remember the marketing and hype for the show before season 1 aired on SyFy was pretty intense. Maybe the show is just too "intellectual" and "slow" for the mainstream audience?

Watched all 4 again. It is by far the best SciFi in my subscriptions. The latest even more so.
