They're illegal in Canada too, heck, they're restricted even in their native Philippines.
Speaking of Filipino blades, my favorite is the Barong, a big chopping oriented blade that can be used for many tasks in the woods.
They look kind of goofy but are very efficient, having the chopping power equivalent to a kukri or a much larger conventional blade, yet are light and speedy enough to clear brush like a machete.
I have an 1897 pattern officers sword made by Wilkinson Sword and it's from 1912, also 3 sabres and a foil for fencing and a katana but the katana is rubbish and not worth the space it takes up Basically if it is modern and machine made then it is not legal, if it is older (pre 1954 I think), and/or hand made then it is legal to own and you must have a valid reason to carry one in public and you must be over 18.

Wonder where my climbing crampons come in on that list as they are basically foot claws.

I wonder what the regulation is regarding wearing your Sgian Dubh?
It comes under the religious and cultural items, it is part of the national costume of Scotland, just like the Sikh wear a dagger too.
However, I have a real Sgian Dubh and an almost identical one that is made of plastic for those times where there may be doubt as to whether I could get in trouble for wearing the real one, most countries in the EU allow the Sgian Dubh as it is regarded as part of our national costume

So you are a Sabreur Alicatt? I used to enjoy thrashing around with a sabre at club level, but got cheesed off with the constant bickering and and intimidation over points at competition level, often encouraged by coaches at certain clubs such as Salle Ganchev. With electrification and the rule changes, I could not stop myself out of habit performing fleche attacks or putting back foot in front, so jacked it in.
As to foil, I was just never quick enough, emphasised by the fact we had a good number of young Chinese fencers who boarded at a local school who could dodge and move like lightning, leap into the air and hit one on the top of the mask. In fact I believe one such fencer caused the rule change banning that action.
I stuck to epee, no 'right of way' and double hits, so when hit you're hit, no argument. Even so, we occasionally experienced the underhand tactic of many halts, queries on point wait stopping bouts to break concentration.
Excuse an old geezer rambling....'Glory Days' indeed!
Oh I have a 1897 Wilkinson made sword that belonged to my wife's Grandfather who served in the Middlesex regiment 1916 -1952 retiring as Colonel CBE (mil.) in Movement control
Yup also a sabreur got 2 Leon Paul sabres and a Solingen made one, I used to fence against the European champion and even managed to take a point or two off him, he wanted to buy my Solingen blade off me but no way I liked it too much, I got it when a friend was clearing out their shed, they had used it at school when the school had a fencing class. It had a home made guard and grip on it but I replaced the guard with one from one of the Leon Paul swords, I kept the grip as it fitted my hand and felt good in the hand for fencing.
With the bit of information about our school having a fencing class, I made enquiries about it and found out that they had abandoned their equipment in the local Assembly Rooms under the stage. Together with the owner of the local gun shop we started up a fencing club in Wick and persuaded the school to loan us the equipment, jackets, masks and foils, it lasted a couple of years but really it was only myself and the gunsmith that continued and I was no challenge for him, he was an ex Dutch army champion at sabre and also pistol, the club went into abeyance for a while and then some folk in Thurso resurrected the club which I also went along to, mean while the Dutch Gunsmith had closed shop and moved to Aberdeen. I took part in some competitions with the new club and managed to win a few.
I moved to Glasgow for work and that's where I met the European champion and I joined his club. It's been about 20 years since I last fenced and I'm a bit too stiff now. There are no clubs around here nearest I could find was a Kendo Dojo but it's about an hours drive from here, I took my wife along she liked it but not enough to take it up.
The 1895 Wilkinson I found in an antique shop, came with belt and frog too, no history for it at all.
