The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in
Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset, hmph
Could be the human race is run

There are some interesting videos on hunting rabbits with ferrets on youtube. Fairly “hands on” as hunting goes, but possibly more humane than a bad shot. Interesting to see the ferrets at work for hunting.

A livery stable opposite me was plagued with rabbits even though there were resident cats and dogs. When the little buggers undermined a large shelter causing collapse, the owners resorted to calling in a chap who used a ferret & Harris hawk combo. if the ferrets didn't get 'em the hawk did. Fascinating to watch. Added bonus was the number of rats caught too.

I've watched a lot of 'ratting' videos on Youtube.

Dogs,Mink (or similar) or airgun? The most prolific killers I've seen were a bunch of terriers. A group called 'The Severn Valley Ratters' I think they were. Relentless and brutally efficient.

I think I only had rabbit once and as I remember didn't like it,but I was quite young and going through my 'fussy' eating stage. Not sure I'd try it now to be honest after owning my own rabbit.

I 'found' this rabbit after me and the wife pulled in whilst driving to have an argument. We were out in the country and as I looked into a field I saw this black rabbit. He was obviously dumped as I noticed some rabbit food in a big pile close by. We decided to catch him,or at least my wife did as he seemed semi-friendly.

Yeah,he seemed friendly, and as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, they can be quite violent. I was scratched all over my hands and arms and remember driving home with blood dripping and me cursing.

He ended up being a good pet but annoyed the cats with his amorous advances until one day they retaliated and he had to have part of his ear removed after it went septic. I also once found him upstairs in the bedroom making sweet love to one of my wife's fluffy toys. We called him the 'Black Bugger',although perhaps the 'Black Buggerer' would have been more appropriate.

A real film. And quite terrible smile

Deforest Kelley was in that movie. it came out during the very "lean years" between the end of ST:TOS and the release of ST: The Motion Picture so I'm sure the role for him was strictly a paycheck. biggrin

I've had ferrets as pets. I also have a mole problem. I thought a few times about seeing if my domesticated ferrets would have the instinct to help me out, but never did. Was afraid they wouldn't come back once they got the pest and we have coyotes up here, too.

SALUTE TO ALL!
