Robert Conrad, Star of TV's 'The Wild Wild West,' Dies at 84

Quote
Renowned for doing his own stunts, he also starred on such shows as 'Hawaiian Eye' and 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' and on the miniseries 'Centennial.'
Robert Conrad, the athletic, two-fisted actor who starred as Secret Service agent James West and did his own spectacular stunts on the 1960s futuristic CBS Western The Wild Wild West, has died. He was 84.

"He lived a wonderfully long life and while the family is saddened by his passing, he will live forever in their hearts," family spokesman Jeff Ballard told People magazine. No other details of his death were immediately available.

His best known shows were a bit before my time when they first aired but I remember watching reruns of both Black Sheep Squadron and Wild Wild West as a kid. RIP

Wild Wild West was in re-runs when I was a kid and one of my favorites by far. Baa Baa Black Sheep was awesome!
Robert Conrad was a favorite of mine.
RIP

Oh crap, this one hurts. As a kid, Wild Wild West was regular Sunday viewing, and I loved Black Sheep Squadron before I even knew what WWII was. The man was just plain cool. He should’ve been given a chance with some big roles.

RIP. I remember watching "Baa Baa Black Sheep" as a kid and making cardboard cutouts of a Corsair and Zero.

Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east

Two suns in the sunset, hmph

Back in the day of Baa Baa Black Sheep we didn't have a DVR or a VCR, there was no recording a program or pausing it to go to the refrigerator etc. So it was one of those special shows that I had to keep an eye on my watch for, to MAKE SURE I was in front of that TV when it came on and I wasn't disturbed for that hour. And pray that there wasn't a thunderstorm or something to interrupt it. I loved that show.

I loved him as James West in "The Wild, Wild West. I thought his appearances in the Duracell commercials were cool, too. RIP, Mr. Conrad.

This thread reminded me of that horrific film adaptation of WWW that came out in 1999. What were the producers thinking??

I always liked him. I recently saw Centennial and loved his character Pasquinel and also Richard Chamberlain's McKeag character and their relationship. They were the highlight of that series in my opinion. That battery commercial is fun. I myself would not dare to knock the battery off his shoulder! My Dad loves his WWW show and told me once in describing it that he was like a old West MacGuyver.
