I don't recall if this question has been asked on SimHQ before but does anyone here have a wife or girlfriend who plays PC games? While my wife is not a gamer AT ALL, at least she is very tolerant of my PC gaming hobby. That's good enough for me!

I know a couple of guys who have significant others who game and will even do coop gaming with them but only on the console.

Neither of my wives did. In fact I think they both resented me spending time on 'stupid games'.

The thing was, especially with my second wife,I invested a lot of my time and effort into joining in with her hobbies, especially her horses which was time consuming. And yet she never showed ANY interest in my hobbies.

I watch quite a few ladies play games on Twitch. They typically don't use foul language like the guys and yet they play as well and in most cases better than the men.

I follow Femennenly who is a WoWs player and she was the best CV player in NA at one point, not sure now since that awful CV re-work.

It does seem like female gamers gravitate more to the consoles than the PC doesn't it?

I have played WoW and lately WoW Classic for about 12 years. Women Wow Players were very much in the minority on the servers where I played and tended to be eith healers or hunters/rangers.

I notice that since I started paying Wow Classic there seems to be a lot more women playing and often with there spouses/ partners. They still seem to play mostly healers but there are also a number of mages. You rarely see female warriors, rogues or paladins and in my 12ish years pf playing I have never seen a female tank

My wife plays games. Mostly she just plays console RPGs and her phone games but sometimes she plays PC games. She also plays borderlands and she played the original red dead redemption. She is very tolerant of my gaming. When we were dating I spend a ton of time doing things with her but I used to tell her that once we are married and living together gaming is probably going to be a source of contention because I game a lot. She just laughed and said something like, no im sure i'll be ok with it. You cant game THAT much.

It's been a source of contention. Recently we got into a fright because we went out of town to watch a hockey game and she wanted to get a hotel and spend the night ($$$)... I wanted to drive back so I could get my rdr2 daily done! We ended up driving back and I got my daily in at 11:55pm !!!

The next day we had a fight biggrin

For the most part though she is completely fine with it. I dont watch tv much unless I just want to spend time with her and then we watch whatever junk tv show she is watching (mostly nature docs or ancient aliens). I do spend a lot of time doing her hobbies or things I would never do myself but she wants to do. I think it's kind of one way as she doesnt do a lot of my hobbies but it works for us and we still spend a lot of time together doing things (which is the most important thing)

We have our 10 year anniversary this year. She wanted to do a week long cruise ($$$$$) (she loves to travel and I hate to travel) but I convinced her to do 10 weekend trips this year instead with one of them being fairly big. My idea of a good anniversary is buying a new racing wheel and spending a weekend breaking it in!... she just wants to go somewhere. It's going to be a long year.

None of my ex-partners gamed at all, and I don't know any peers who play games to any significant degree (one who is a database programmer for an international company) does have Elite Dangerous, but hasn't played it for very long).

My daughter plays some games, currently her thing is minecraft, which she plays with her friends from school at LAN parties (made easier with laptops).

Her Royal Vajesty absolutely detests when I play video games, especially one that involves killing animals.

My wife has no interest in gaming at all. We use to play Jeopardy together back in the PS1 days. That's as far as she went.
She fully supports my hobby though, PC and PS4. Which is nice because I am retired and she is the one working now. biggrin
From what I gather from my time on Twitter there are many female gamers in their 20's and 30's, yes mainly console.

The last bird i was with we used to have some great Dayz adventures. Problem we would have was after making it inland and looting for an hour or so we would pull up and check all of our gear. I would drop a bunch of pistols, ammo and food. She would drop four jackets, six shirts, a bunch of hats and eight pairs of shoes because she couldn't decide what to wear. I had to constantly remind it was an apocalypse and not a shopping expedition. She loved Crysis enough which was her first game that she got her own pc and also got involved when mine needed a rebuild. Even got her up in the cockpit in CloD a few times and we did some time in Warthunder GF.

My daughter is a gamer through and through. She has had her own pc since about 2013 and wrecks the majority of guys online in the games she plays. Her go to single player is a music game called OSU online and she is top 100 on several high level maps, her reflexes blow me away. If anyone has ever seen people play it you'll get my drift. She also destroys her boyfriend in the games they play and their banter is quite amusing, she has absolutely no mercy when it comes to gaming.

I think Lil'Jugs was the last female member on SimHQ to post once in a while but I don't know if she actually played any PC games.

There were quite a number of female contributors here and CombatSim before the exodus, but have drifted away due to pernicious misogyny in many cases.
One such wanted to join my old Squadron but was worried about attitude towards her....'don't worry your pretty little head about it luv " was my response smile

Haven't seen a post from Ms Lil'Jugs for a while...I'm sure she did play though Panzer!

LOL Yup. As far as I know she is the most recent female member of SimHQ to post on the site.

Those are great aren't they? So true to the patronising 'Public Information Films' that the Ministry put out during the war and after for the education of the 'Lower Orders' of British society.

I remember posting this one:

in a forum discussion on driving and was lambasted by a humourless feminist who did not realise it was a spoof.
