Wife got a call that her Bank credit card number was used 6 times at Walmart, each time it was denied
Looks like Walmart had a huge disruption of service Nationwide at this time as well.
Change your Walmart passwords.

One of my credit cards allows me to create a virtual, and one time use card for any transaction in less than a minute.
Capital One, FYI.
No annual fee. Interest is irrelevant as I use it very sparingly and pay it down to zero every month.

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

I never bought anything online at Walmart and never use my credit card or debit card at the store.
Always paid in cash.
I have a friend in IT, big time IT, security and stuff involving top secret clearance, and if I told you what he told me he saw in the Walmart IT building that is located in Arkansas, underground in a former ICBM missile silo, you will freak out. I will safely asume that you are hinting about purchase behaviour tracking? If so, Amazon and Google are light years ahead in that regards. They both track you even if you do NOT purchase anything online with them or not. Saying that, I do agree your point about buying with cash as much as possible.

Cash is - to a degree - the economic counterpart to the second amendment.
I agree with that analogy but going cashless would present national governments with MANY huge advantages so it will be extremely difficult for them to pass it up for too much longer. The immediate two advantages would be shutting down all of the coin and paper currency minting and printing facilities which would be a major cost savings and the other would be making tax evasion almost impossible since every financial transaction would now have a digital trail.

I really hope not. This is one case where I hope I am wrong but the current trends show otherwise.

That's what a friend of mine does.
He buys the VISA, Master Card, AMEX gift cards and that's how he pays his monthly bills online or orders from online stores.
He has checking accounts but he doesn't have debit card with any of them.
He doesn't even have an ATM card for his bank account.
When he needs cash, he goes to the bank and he goes inside.
He still writes paper checks at stores or pays in cash..
When he goes to a restaurant, he pays cash. His life sounds like a pain in the butt.

I don't talk to him much or hang out with him much. Maybe once every few months we have lunch. He is loaded with $ and he is a crap tipper, uses a calculator. Then I have to listen to him complain about government and society. What do you have to complain about? You are loaded! I seen your 100 cars collection. I only have one car.

I don't have credit cards anymore. I have a debit card I might use twice a year. I pay cash or write checks when I buy something. Want to stay broke? Keep buying the B.S. the credit institutions are feeding you. THEY are the ones making loads of money on their customers. Studies show that a person spends an average of 20% more on a purchase when they use a credit card. It makes you think a lot more when you're peeling bills out of your pocket to pay for something.

His life sounds like a pain in the butt.
Sounds like everyone of my father's generation and every generation before him. For that matter, sounds like my first 25 years.

He is very old school.
He has the slowest internet speed, as long as he can check his email, that's what matters..
He doesn't stream or download any music or movies
He won't shop online or do his banking online.
He definitely will not deal with online dating.
He has a cell phone that his sister gave him and I think it's either a very early iPhone or Droid.
No texting, chatting, messaging,
He is still using it. Him: "Get off my lawn!!" Me: "Ok Boomer"
