Very sad to hear this. Thank you Mr Jones for all the laughs.
He also made an excellent documentary series about the Crusades: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades_(TV_series)
Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?

I could never get into Monty Python.
Must be that we yanks do not understand British humor. So you make a sweeping generalized statement based on your own personal experience? Interesting.

I seen the Monty Python films. I didn't find them funny. My friends and family who have seen them also didn't think they were funny or found them to be the kind of comedy that they would like and enjoy. So based on the experience of maybe 50 people at most you make a general statement saying that "we Yanks" do not understand British humor. Got it.

I'm a Yank and I've been a hardcore Python fan since 1977. It has nothing to do with one's nationality. Some get it, some don't, it's that simple.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." -- Ephesians 6: 12-13 KJV

It has nothing to do with one's nationality. Some get it, some don't, it's that simple. You hit the nail on the head. I've long said that comedy is a highly subjective artform. What will have some people doubled over with laughter leaves others stone-faced. And I'm not talking about the "easily offended" crowd, either. I don't find Jim Carrey terribly funny. I've enjoyed some of his movies ("Liar, Liar" and "Bruce Almighty" for example) but the Ace Ventura movies and "Dumb and Dumber" were a waste of film and time, IN MY OPINION. And even when I used to watch the Tonight Show I wouldn't when he was a guest. But some (maybe most?) people think he's a brilliant comedian. And it's not just the comedian. Most things I've seen Rowan Atkinson do are hilarious to me. But his potentially most popular character, Mr. Bean, does absolutely nothing for me. Go figure. So as JCathcart said, it has nothing to do with nationality, NoFlyBoy.

but the Ace Ventura movies . The first Ace Ventura movie will forever be immortalized in my memory for two reasons: 1. I got to see how truly absurdly horrid Dan Marino's acting skills were. 2. It was entirely shot in the Miami and Miami Beach area!

So as JCathcart said, it has nothing to do with nationality, NoFlyBoy. I’m trying to remember the last American sitcom that got a laugh out of me. Seinfeld? Nope, not funny AT ALL. Same goes for 2 1/2 Men, BBT, Everybody Loves Raymond, 2 Broke Girls, etc. Sanford & Son and MASH are probably the ones I found funniest. Also insanely funny but not a sitcom was The Carol Burnett Show, I wasn’t old enough to understand it when it was on but now it just kills me. Not with Lyle Waggoner or Dick Van Dyke, though; Carol, Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway, and Harvey Korman was the best lineup. I didn’t find Mama's Family funny at all, though. I love a lot of British comedy - Python, Fawlty Towers (Connie Wells!!), The Young Ones, The Two Ronnies, Benny Hill, etc. I still think Yellowbeard is one of the funniest movies ever.
