A while ago I bought a Thrustmaster T-16000m (just the stick). Now I want to acquire a throttle. I realise it would have been cheaper to buy the throttle/stick combo but at the time I wasn't sure I needed the throttle and I wasn't really impressed by the sliding nature of the Thrustmaster throttle.

If I could obtain say, a used Saitek X-52 throttle would that work ok? Would I need to run Saitek software to use the throttle or could I just bind the various functions in the game? I've never owned a throttle before.

Thanks for any replies.

*I assume the Saitek throttles are good units? Anyone own one?

You can use joystick gremlin to make them work together.

You can do in both ways.

Assign axis, buttons direct in game Control GUI.

Or use keyboard emulation through Saitek software (know for some "hiccups", e.g. BSOD) or freeware like Joystick Gremlin - very powerful and allow mix two different brand controllers in one virtual.

Saitek X-52 throttle (now Logitech G brand), are not sold standalone, just as "HOTAS" with X-52 joystick, and their QC/quality is "famous" to be a lottery, some guys have luck others no.

But if you find only the throttle used in good condition an good price (~$70),why not? Work standalone (without X-52 joystick).

Thustmaster TWCS throttle (~$80) is well regard, with good value for the cost, with less issues that X-52 throttle,
a common complain is stiction in their "S.M.A.R.T." rails, requiring re-grease.
TWCS is single axis throttle plus an auxiliary analog axis (dial) and analog mini-stick, useful for DCS jets.

For a bit more (~$120) are CH PRO Throttle, single axis plus mini-stick.

Other than this only Thrustmaster Warthog throttle (sold standalone) or VirPil T50CM2, both for more than $250.

Chucky,
Can confirm what Sokol said ( not that he ever needs confirmation of his info ). I run an X52 throttle and a VKB MCG pro. I do use the Saitek/Logitec software in order to use some of the inputs. The software DOES cause random BSOD’s for me. That’s why I gutted an X52 handle, rewiring it with new buttons, and mounting it onto one of GVL224’s mechanisms. It will run thru a Bodnar board, thereby eliminating the BSOD’s.

Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like it will be easier for me to just get over the design of the TM throttle and acquire one.

I recently bought the DCS AV-8B and I need another axis for the nozzles (at least I think I do,any thoughts on that?)
