This is a nice video of a walkthrough of the Type VIIc submarine U995, which is now a museum at Laboe outside Kiel in Germany. Incidentally, this boat served in the Royal Norwegian Navy after WWII, and was gifted to Germany after decommissioning.

Silent Hunter players should feel right at home smile

Imagine serving on these. 75% of the German submarine crews were lost!

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Great video. I myself would barely fit inside one of those enlisted bunk beds!

And to think that military submarines started here,

Some definite similarities between WW2 U.S. Navy subs, of which I've been in a few, and the German ones. Thanks for this!

Just compare the US Gato class sub with a German Type VII. They are almost identical in appearance.

I have done the tour of HMS Alliance in at the RN Submarine Museum in Gosport. She seemed a wee bit larger inside but this may make sense as she was laid down near the very end of the war

The German Type IX was significantly larger but it didn't show up until 1943 so the HMS Alliance is probably a close equivalent to that one in size.

Noticed the recording of 'Tipperary" a homage to 'Das Boot'! I was visualising many scenes from that series watching this.
30,248 merchant seamen lost their lives during WW2, so almost parity with the unfortunates of the U-Boot service.

Except the Gato is 3 times bigger (in displacement) wink

No tour of a WW2 sub but did have a tour of USN attack sub with 3 friends while we were slightly into intoxicated back in '79.while in New London/Groton. Was impressed with the feeling of space. Was surprised we got on the base as the sailors of colour who got us on the base said us 'white' were relatives.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
