Ok, this has gone from inspiring to, shall we say, odd and maybe more than a little creepy?
The Japanese billionaire who is paying Elon Musk and SpaceX to be the first private citizen to orbit the moon is now turning it into some version of The Dating Game.

No, I am not making this up:

Yusako Maezawa's real decision. Looking for his "life partner."

Yusaku Maezawa's website for the Dear Moon mission now states,
Quote

Yusaku Maezawa's serious matchmaking documentary:
Full Moon Lovers

Yusaku Maezawa looks for a female partner to go to the moon with him.

He has a long-held dream of going into space.
He wants to visit such a special place together with a special someone.
Through serious one-on-one planned matchmaking,
Maezawa looks to find his life partner.

Application Conditions
・Single women aged 20 or over
・Bright personality and always positive
・Interested in going into space and able to participate in the preparation for it
・Want to enjoy life to the fullest
・Be someone who wishes for world peace

Schedule
・Jan. 17: Applications end at 10am (JST)
・Jan. 25-26: Selection begins
・Mid Feb: Matchmaking dates with Yusaku Maezawa
・Mid Mar: Special dates getting to know Yusaku Maezawa
・End of Mar: Final decision on partner

That is a VERY ambitious timetable!
Somehow, I picture it going more like this:

"I've never been on a blind date before. So where are we going?"

"It is surprise."

"Oh, I love fancy restaurants! So glad I wore my heels. It is a restaurant, right?"

"Not exactly. Please get into limousine."

"I can't stay out too late. I have to work tomorrow."

"Don't worry, all will be clear soon."

A little bit later:

"Ok, close your eyes. Do not open them. Watch your step, we are taking elevator now. Ok, sit down carefully. Very good. Ok, may open eyes now."

PA: "THREE. TWO. ONE. WE HAVE IGNITION."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

[Deep breath]

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!"

LOL.

He's taking cues from reality TV apparently.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
For a moment I was tempted to say I'd do the same, but then, I'd actually hate to be that guy.

How will he ever know whoever he picks didn't just want to get into his money? I guess only option is to date some celebrity who's also rather filthy rich.

I thought this might have been about Jeff Bezos' first date with his ex-wife, considering how much she got from the divorce biggrin

No problem.
He's got a whole 13 days to narrow down the first cut for his life partner.

Wonder if Elon is starting to have second thoughts on associating with this guy.
Then again, no bucks, no Buck Rogers.

Humans being humans I'm sure it has happened.
