Been enjoying this ever since it released. Are there still plans to release the Battle for France expansion at some point in the future?

I always thought it would be a logical step to start at the Battle for France when WoTR was launched... but what the hell do I know? biggrin

I'd love to play such a module! They could probably reuse much of their woff map. First flyable could be a d406 followed by a bf110 and then maybe a d520...
After that a leaning forward module with spit v and 109f4...
Then a non stop offensive thingy with spit IX and fw190...
Then fortress without roof pack with p47 and 109g6...
Then a fighters unleashed pack with p51 and 190a8...
Then a final days pack with tempest and me262...
Roadmap in my head is clear smile
If life was just as simple...

Nah, scrap the D520 - very few, very limited action, and based mainly in southern France. Would very much like to see the Curtis Hawk.

There might be the odd AI French plane, but I reckon the battle of France will be an RAF v Luftwaffe affair...

...well, over 2000 sorties flown by french fighter forces, so no, it wasn't mainly just an RAF vs. Luftwaffe affair.

Yes, obviously I know the French flew many sorties and had various aircraft types... but do Pol and co have access to all the tech data of those types to produce them into the game?

He didn't say it was in reality - he said he thinks it would be in game if it was realized.

And from a game designer point of view it would be sensible: A French pilot career would stretch for only 6 weeks...

All the research you'd spend to create an WOTR'esque immersion in a french campaign would be for such a module only - while a focus on RAF would have synergy effects with other modules...

What new allied plane would a RAF focused BoF bring? Since we already have a Hurricane I'd say Fairy Battle would be the most important other RAF plane for that scenario - that would be a very dangerous campaign facing Messerschmitts in such a plane...

Love this and it is roadmaps like this which whirl around in my brain all the time, but shouldn't this roadmap include Bomber Command? yep

Hey all,

I usually just come to the forums to see the latest news on the two greatest flight sims OFF and WOTR.

I just read so I never created an account until now, but I just had to comment on this topic.

I love the Battle of France expansion idea.

No one does the battle of France which makes sense as one person pointed out, it'd be a very short campaign. It does have a lot of potential though. If you're flying for the Germans or the British then the campaign can transition right to the battle of Britain. If you're flying for the French then things can get interesting. We already have the battle of Britain so you can have the last mission as an escape to Britain and continue with the Free French. If North Africa is added then you can escape to North Africa and then fly for Vichy France, and then the Free French after the allied victory if Africa. It's the only campaign that I know of where you could potentially fly with the allies and the axis in one campaign.

Anyway, I just had to through that out there. I'd like to see a Polish campaign as well, but we'll see what happens.

I'd also like to thank the developers. I had pretty much given up on seeing a good WWI or WWII single player flight sim. I used to get by with Rise of Flight which is a good game, but the AI is pretty bad and the S.E.5a flies like a Cessna transporting a dump truck.

Happy flying all!

To be fair, the air war in the west 1939-40 can be flown in the CFS3 freeware ETO expansion (albeit with the inferior CFS3 pilot campaign, no match for WotR's)...

...which has an impressive set of flyables, including many Armée de l'Air types which look better for the addition of Ankor's DX mod...

...and the theatre features in probably more than one campaign for Il-2 '46...
