How have I not see this before? Sure, it shows its age but every minute is pure entertainment. And those beautiful, beautiful Corsairs!
The show that started my love affair with the Corsair.

Part 1 was on BBC last night. Part 2 is tonight. Part 3 is tomorrow night. All UK primetime.
Netflix will make all 3 parts available for streaming on Friday.
Nope. I already got my fill of vampires between the "Dracula" film by Francis Ford Coppola and the Blade movies with Wesley Snipes.

Don't forget Dracula 1979, Love at first bite (1979), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Van Helsing (2004), Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995), Wes Craven Presents Dracula 2000.

In other words, Dracula and vampires in general have already been done to death in both film and TV.

Iron Sky: The Coming Race It was gloriously cheesy B-movie with an absurd premise.
Also NOVA: Building Chernobyl's MegaTomb. That was quite the engineering feat to build that thing. I hope to see a followup where they cover the building and/or operation of the robots that are supposed to go into it.
People in the comment complaining that they are not dubbed in English and that the American version of them are not included:
Hollywood idiots took a couple of them, cut them to pieces and then shot new scenes with the like or Raymond Burr and inserted them into the heavily cut version,
those people are dumb idiots.
I love Criterion Collection DVDs.
I have over 200 LD and DVD, all Criterion.

I myself have no problems at all with subtitles but the main complaint I've heard concerning subtitles from others is that it divides their attention and makes it difficult to follow what is going on with the story and the action since they have to take their eyes off what is happening so they can read the lines of text on the bottom.

Subtitles have never distracted me and I don't need to look at the bottom to read them and lose sight of the rest of the picture.
How close are these people who complains about subtitles sitting to their TVs?

I don't think that's the issue. Some people are simply better at multi-tasking than others.

Rented "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" yesterday. Some chronology errors and Tarantino rewrote history very much the way he did in "Inglorious Basterds", but it was a fairly fun trip down memory lane for someone who lived through the late 60's. And Brad Pitt's performance was really good. Kind of unfair to consider it a supporting role, really.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen a Korean-language film but apparently "Parasite" has a lot of positive word of mouth and buzz among the critics so I may check it out.

I'm a big fan of Akira Kurosawa so I've seen many Japanese language films. I have the Criterion dvd sets for Seven Samurai, Ran, Kagemusha, Rashomon, The Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo, Sanjuro and Throne of Blood.

Never much considered Korean films until I saw A Tale of Two Sisters. Holy crap!! I could watch that over and over, if only they'd release it on blu ray.
This was a good movie. The ending moved me and it made me shed a few tears.
This movie came out in July 1943 so it means it was filmed in the months prior to that date.
The North Africa campaign officially ended for Rommel in March 1943 and for the Afrika Korps in May 1943.
How were they able to make this movie at the time?
Most of the information on the North Africa campaign and especially on Second Battle of El Alamein which is what this film is about, must had been top secret except for what was reported in the newspapers.

The problem I have with all of the war movies that were made during the war from both the Axis and Allies side is that they were primarily driven by propaganda and not historical accuracy. There’s also something to be said about making a movie too soon after the historical event that it is portraying. There hasn’t been enough passage of time for a proper perspective on the event to have developed.

You mean Hollywood-produced films. I'm sure there have been plenty made by the Russian film industry.
