I never even heard of some of these, although that's understandable as there was a vast library of games, including in some cases what I suspect were unlicensed variants.
You can probably easily add another 25 or 30 choices to the list.
The only pic of my C64, next to TV/stereo (that was 1989, unpacking first Atlanta apartment after living with brother for 6 months while waiting for wife to finish college in Baton Rouge)...
EDIT: That might be my VIC-20, I owned both.

I bought a Commodore 64 so early in it's existence that there weren't any games for it. I held onto it for about 6 months, and then sold it and bought an Atari 800. I still have that Atari 800 in the garage.

Always loved the mechanical keyboard action of the original Commodores (both of mine were pre-owned, BTW).

I was too poor to have a Commodore 64 so hence the only gaming system I had for most of the 80's was the Atari 2600.

If I understand it right, the "maxi" full size version is in the $120 to $150 range with the joystick included. US launch hasn't hit yet, I think, just Europe? There are YouTube reviews of that full size version from some UK posters. IMO generally seems worth the price for my interests, kinda.
And yes... save to USB! Somehow my inner 10 year-old-BASIC-programming-self wants to do this.

I was lucky to have a hard working 5-year older brother who passed down some of his toys (before the internet and ebay made it easy to sell stuff). IIRC, he gave me the VIC-20 and my brother-in-law the C64 (or vice versa). Like always, I was years behind the times (still gaming on a 2600 w/13" B&W TV while listening to 8-tracks in 1985). Just look at that TV (upgraded to color) and those glasses...dam!

Lol. Dude, I recently covered QBASIC just for the nostalgia (although you can still do some nifty BASIC-like command-line batch file programming). I'd have fun with this and will look into it, especially for ~$150.00.

My parents offered to buy me a C64 in 1985 from a neighbor, but when we were over there and I realized it only had a tape deck to play games and no disk drives I vehemently said "no." The thought of rewinding and fast forwarding just to play something--naive I was, seemed nightmarish. In retrospect, maybe I should have said "yes" and upgraded to a disk drive.
A year and a half later, though, we got a Tandy 1000 TX, and two years after that, our first Adlib sound card, followed by VGA. So that wasn't so bad.
Only had an Atari 2600 all 80s though; mooched off friends for their NES and around 1992 I used my grass cutting money to buy my own Super Nintendo. We had a 386 by then, also, but the SNES was awesome for playing while I downloaded stuff from BBSs at 2400 bps.
