So confusing, LOL!
But on the other hand, when I think about that we say:
the 50's, the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's and so on,
for me the decade starts at 0.
If it starts at 1, shouldn't we say the 51st, the 61st, and so on? We in French (and probably in other languages) say : I am 50 years old today so I am (i am starting) now in my 51st year. That's logical , years are like candies in a box, if one counts them to check if the seller did not cheat him , one doesn't count from the candy 0 , but from the candy 1 (otherwise, when counting the candies, one should be happy to count them till 49 when actually they are 50)...so the first "decade" of candies starts to 1 and ends at 10...it's like counting on the fingers...

Yes, absolutely. ------------- Actually, this isn't even a trick. You're 70 only at the second when your 71st birthday starts. Noooooooooo ! You're 70 only when your 71st year starts ...

"Year 1 of our Lord" (A1D) and "our Lord's year 1" (DA1) I'd give you. But "1 In the year of our Lord" (1AD) and "Of our Lord 1 year" (D1A) seem far too convoluted. However I'm familiar enough with the German language to know that its syntax is often out of phase with English. I'm not characterizing it as wrong, mind you (each one is correct within its language), just not the same. But the argument that "nobody would recognize any more what A and D stand for" is pretty much invalid because the overwhelming majority of people already don't know what they stand for. That's not about German but Latin ... I brought up German because Ssnake's info says "Germoney", so I assumed he's German.
SALUTE TO ALL!

The best comparison is a circuit race IMO.
