Watching the Cowboys vs. Rams game.

I have never heard of this rule.

Cowboys won the coin toss prior to the start of the first quarter.

The referee asked Prescott (Cowboys QB) what the Cowboys want to do.

Prescott said kick..

The referee asked him twice just to make sure he'd heard correctly:

both times Prescott said kick.

So the Rams got the ball first at the start of the first quarter

and

they will also get the ball first at the start of the third quarter.

I have never heard of such rule just because Prescott didn't say the actual word:

defer

after saying kick twice, he said defer on his 3rd reply

But either the referee didn't hear him or Prescott already saying kick twice will not be changed by saying defer once.

Coin toss are not reviewable.

So the Rams still gets the ball first at the start of the 3rd quarter.

And after negociations during the half Cowboys have the ball at the start of the 3rd.

That's legit the rule. The team winning the toss has three options: they can choose to kick, they can choose to receive, or they can choose to defer. If they pick defer, they will make their choice at the beginning of the 2nd half. If they choose either of the other two options, then they have made their choice and their opponent will decide to kick or receive at the top of the 2nd half.

So strictly by the rule, the Rams should have been allowed their choice at the beginning of the 2nd half.

49ers just lost their 3rd game of the year.

All 3 games lost in the final few seconds of each game.

He said, "defense", indicating they wanted to kick the ball. Which is undoubtedly why the referee asked for clarification, at which point he repeated "defense". Listen closely. BOTH times he clearly puts the emphasis on the first syllable, as in "defense", not the second, as in "defer". Listening to that, and not the lame excuse made for America's Team (as usual), the second syllable is clearly "fense" not "fer".

Cowboys: what a bunch of losers. They lost to the Eagles who have at least 10 starting defensive and offensive players on injury.

The Cowboys only scored 3 FG, no TD.

14 total offensive yards and no first downs in the 1st Q.

Too many misthrown passes by their QB and too many catchable passes dropped by their WRs.

Yet the Cowboys still think they are America's Team!!

Whatever!!

Hiring another head coach is not the solution.

The problem is Jerry Jones.

They spend too much time calling themselves America's Team but they can't walk the talk.

The Cowboys haven't been America's Team in ages. The last time they went to the Super Bowl was in 1996.

That's a long time.

My brother's kid was born on that Super Bowl Sunday in 1996.

She is now 23, graduated from college with honor with a double degree, got a good career, and engaged to be married.

That's to put into perspective how long it has been since the Cowboys played in the Super Bowl.

But Jerry Jones doesn't care.

Even when his team has a losing season, he still makes millions.

If he cared, he would had fixed the team many years ago.

I wonder if ANYONE watched the Dolphins vs. Bengals game??? It would be like watching a boxing match between Peter Dinklage and Verne Troyer.

I didn't watch it. It was a meaningless game.

Patriots lose to the Dolphins. That's what happens when their game preparation doesn't include banned video.

First time since 2009 that Patriots will be in the Wild Card.

Cowboys didn't do themselves any favor by winning big today.

They are still out of the playoffs because the Eagles won today.

I think the Cowboys' win today will hurt them because now Jerry Jones may forget all the bad games in the past 15 weeks and decide to still keep their head coach Garrett and every player on the team.

Then Jones will start raving about how this is the team and staff he wants to take them to the Super Bowl next year, a Super Bowl the Cowboys haven't been to in 23 years.

Wow, what the hell happened at the Miami vs. New England game?? I'm sure a LOT of gamblers in Vegas lost money on that one!

SF vs Seattle was a nail biter, for sure.

Couldn't ask for a better ending to the 100th regular season. Tough act for the postseason to follow. Game of the Year candidate, for sure.
