The Hollywood film industry never ceases to amaze me with its stupidity. So they first try their SJW social experiment with the Paul Feig film and that failed big time and so here they are with another reboot of a worn out and tired franchise.
The trailer shows a very obvious attempt to give the franchise a “Stranger Things” vibe. It won’t work.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
Hollywood continuing to suck the bones of a nostalgic past, hoping to crap out something predigested and lacking in charm, but might accidentally be profitable for the few days until word has spread :/
"They might look the same, but they don't taste the same."
The original Ghostbusters is one of the greatest films ever made. Anything attempting to fill its shoes has a huge mountain to climb. And Harold wasn't only Egon, he wrote the film along with Dan Aykroyd, too. I do like the tribute to him on the uniform.
No idea if this will, but seems far more interesting than that last pile of poo they tried to foist on us.
My biggest issue with all these '80s franchise sequels and remakes, aside from the forced social commentary that many suffer from, is that they've simply waited too long, there's little sense of continuity.
Doing a Ghostbusters movie in 2020, with the last real one coming out in 1989, is like doing a reboot of the Walking Dead or some other contemporary franchise in 32 years, meh.
i actually like how the VFX of the proton plasma is like the fake composition one in the original movie, instead of a new more realistic one. And all the easter eggs like spengler fungi collection, shandor mining company,Ivo Shandor is the leader of the Cult of Gozer, the first movie showed only one of his hideouts, spengler problably bought the farm (too soon?) to keep tabs on the paranormal activities. As for the kids ? this is a new ghostbuster for a new generation, im open for it, but i still wish the girl was the goth chick from the comics and the last cartoon,or that she made a appearence. remember goonies ? yeah.....gooniebusters is the vibe i get from this. Also i doubt that spectre they chase is slime, its just another class 5 full roaming vapor apparition
I think (I think) that a big part of this particular iteration of "Ghostbusters" will be whether or not one can refrain comparing it to the original. It may be impossible to capture lightning in a bottle twice. But catching lightning bugs can still be cool, too.
Example: Went to see the "Ocean's 11" reboot with my wife and my mother-in-law. My wife had never seen the original and thought the reboot was fun. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, considered it a cinematic blasphemy for the rest of her life. Though I don't believe overall it compares to the original, I thought that it stood up well as a 21st Century caper movie. Not well enough to watch any of the sequels. The same is pretty much true with Steve Martin's turn as Inspector Clouseau. Fun for people who haven't got Peter Sellers as a frame of reference...OK to boring for those who do.
