The Hollywood film industry never ceases to amaze me with its stupidity. So they first try their SJW social experiment with the Paul Feig film and that failed big time and so here they are with another reboot of a worn out and tired franchise.

The trailer shows a very obvious attempt to give the franchise a “Stranger Things” vibe. It won’t work.

Hollywood continuing to suck the bones of a nostalgic past, hoping to crap out something predigested and lacking in charm, but might accidentally be profitable for the few days until word has spread :/

RIP Harold Ramis.

The original Ghostbusters is one of the greatest films ever made. Anything attempting to fill its shoes has a huge mountain to climb. And Harold wasn't only Egon, he wrote the film along with Dan Aykroyd, too. I do like the tribute to him on the uniform.

No idea if this will, but seems far more interesting than that last pile of poo they tried to foist on us.

I managed to watch the first hour of that Paul Feig movie and I found it to be painfully unfunny. The cast simply didn’t gel together.

I really like Kristen Wiig and find Melissa McCarthy funny but I can honestly say that in that movie I only laughed once, and that was at one of the lines spoken by the male secretary.

The trailer to me looks like all kinds of 'meh'.

Feminists are so used to preferential treatment that equal treatment seems like discrimination.

So the kid is the grandchild of one of the original Ghostbusters or something like that?

I just looked it up and one of the kids actors in this also plays the main character in Stranger Things;

he also is one of the kids in Stephen King It 2017 and 2019.

Are there no other kids actors working in Hollywood?

This might be ok, as in, worth watching for free.

My biggest issue with all these '80s franchise sequels and remakes, aside from the forced social commentary that many suffer from, is that they've simply waited too long, there's little sense of continuity.

Doing a Ghostbusters movie in 2020, with the last real one coming out in 1989, is like doing a reboot of the Walking Dead or some other contemporary franchise in 32 years, meh.

Brace yourself because Eddie Murphy is doing a sequel to Beverly Hills Cop 3 (1994), Coming To America (1988),

and to - get ready for this:

Twins (1988)..

It will be called Triplets.

What kind of BS story are they going to use to explain why there is a third brother who is Black?

This isn't a remake, it's a Next Gen sequel.

It references the originals movies, and continues them (just ignores the reboot from a couple of years ago probably).

Looks interesting, I'll watch it.

i actually like how the VFX of the proton plasma is like the fake composition one in the original movie, instead of a new more realistic one. And all the easter eggs like spengler fungi collection, shandor mining company,Ivo Shandor is the leader of the Cult of Gozer, the first movie showed only one of his hideouts, spengler problably bought the farm (too soon?) to keep tabs on the paranormal activities. As for the kids ? this is a new ghostbuster for a new generation, im open for it, but i still wish the girl was the goth chick from the comics and the last cartoon,or that she made a appearence. remember goonies ? yeah.....gooniebusters is the vibe i get from this.
Also i doubt that spectre they chase is slime, its just another class 5 full roaming vapor apparition

panzermayer is a grumpy old man ignore him.

You are correct, "reboot" was not the right term for me to use.

However, my assertion that most of the mainstream audience won't bother to go see this new movie I think will be correct.

The new Beverly Hills Cop movie will be exclusively on Netflix. I think that's a smart move because Eddie Murphy is NOT nearly the box office draw that he was in the 80's and 90's.

I think (I think) that a big part of this particular iteration of "Ghostbusters" will be whether or not one can refrain comparing it to the original. It may be impossible to capture lightning in a bottle twice. But catching lightning bugs can still be cool, too.

Example:
Went to see the "Ocean's 11" reboot with my wife and my mother-in-law. My wife had never seen the original and thought the reboot was fun. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, considered it a cinematic blasphemy for the rest of her life. Though I don't believe overall it compares to the original, I thought that it stood up well as a 21st Century caper movie. Not well enough to watch any of the sequels. The same is pretty much true with Steve Martin's turn as Inspector Clouseau. Fun for people who haven't got Peter Sellers as a frame of reference...OK to boring for those who do.

SALUTE TO ALL!

I don't expect much from this new Ghostbusters.

Ghostbusters II in 1989 was not any good either, IMO.

It sure didn't catch the lightning in a bottle again like Ghostbusters did.

What's interesting to me the most is just how utterly politically incorrect the original "Coming to America" would be considered today.
