Not necessarily, "Jersey Shore" lasted 6 seasons.

Fair point LOL Buy yeah, I'm looking forward to the next season of Jack Ryan.

Of course this is the divide between fans of a show and the studios/networks that make the shows. It doesn't matter to the studios and networks how moronic the dialogue or scripts may be as long as the show is making money.

I just started Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit.

I didn't see this when it came out.

It couldn't be as bad as the other one with Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan, could it?

Harrison Ford is the only Jack Ryan for me.

Why he stopped after Clear and Present Danger?

I’ve gotta go with Baldwin. I liked his potrayal much more than Ford’s. Recently watched the main three movies and I still feel he was the best. Helps that HFRO is such a great movie, but the other two were good. I liked Gates McFadden more than Anne Archer as the wife too.

Baldwin was too quiet for me.

There was no official reason given as far as I remember but my educated guess is one of two things.

1. Ford was done with the role and wanted to move on.

2. Ford wanted too much money for a third film.

Can you elaborate on that? I thought his performance in HFRO was absolutely perfect.

He came across to me like a mouse in a church.

All quiet like and even when he speaks in most of his dialogue scenes, he is like almost whispering.

Speak up son, we can't hear you.

That's how I remember Baldwin's Jack Ryan persona.

I haven't seen HFRO in a good many years.

Let me see if I still have the VHS of it.

If I do, I will rewatch it over the holidays and see if I still get the same impression.

I guess then I'm a slightly bigger fan of the film since I've seen it at least 10 times and I even listened to the audio commentary. I also have the soundtrack on CD which I'm currently listening to in my car! biggrin

VHS? I have some foggy memory of what that is. wink

Watch Ford again in his movies. He's mumbling and always looks so scared and insecure the whole time. LOL
To each their own though, both actors certainly have their distinct methods.

I still remember watching Patriot Games and thinking I like this guy better than the other guy.

At the time I never even heard of Alec Baldwin.

At the time I only knew him from Beetlejuice.

I have never seen Beetlejuice.

I just looked on IMDB and Kevin Costner was offered the role of Jack Ryan in HFRO and he turned it down.

Then it was offered to Harrison Ford and he turned it down so the role went to Baldwin.

Baldwin asked for a big raise to return for the sequel and the studio said for that kind of money, we can get Ford.

Schwarzenegger was originally considered for the role of Ramius.

I like Arnold but he would had been wrong for it.

No kidding! I'm glad it worked out the way it did. I like Arnold too but he's an amateur compared to Connery when it comes to acting ability.

But Arnold had other dramatic roles like Junior.

What the heck was he thinking?

They must had made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

This video about roles Arnold turned down or roles he auditioned for but didn't get is interesting.

Connery *made* the movie and it was a well deserved boost for his career.

Was his career on the rock at the time?

He was just in Indiana Jones the year before and he received good compliments from reviews and audience.

He was the perfect Dad Jones.

Before Indy, he won an Oscar for Untouchables.

Well he did make the stinker The Presidio between Indy and Untouchables.
