What can you do when your package was delivered at the wrong address attack the package is gone. Amazon does a better job delivering your goods.

It does not happen that often (4 times) in 8 years but still, it's frustrating, no one takes responsibility

Reminds me of the children's book that was delivered for my oldest son almost 30 years ago. Clearly marked "Book - Do Not Bend" the package was folded practically in half and stuffed into my mailbox. I went to the post office and complained to the post master. Among the whiny excuses he gave was "Well we're just a service we can't guarantee the condition of a package".

Oh and you can sign up for "Informed Delivery" with USPS, they'll send you an email every day showing what is supposed to be on it's way to you.

I get problems with UPS not the postal service,,My address is West Main Street and house number with a 1/2 after it The main drag down the hill is West Main the 1/2 means up the hill...Isn't hard I'm the only house on the street..Trouble is the town changed the street name twice in two years,,,No issues with the regular mail but UPS comes and they know the house the next time something doesn't get delivered the same guy gets confused and can't find the house,,Last time he asked what is the name of this street I told him the same as the last two times you came..
And like F4 sometimes I get packages that just barely fit into the mailbox and cant get them out..Last time I had to perform surgery with a steak knife and cut the box open inside the box pull the stuff out and tear the box apart,,My back door is two steps from the mail box,,But our mail man is cool I asked him to put any boxes by the door and he's good with that

Do you have a USPS tracking number? If so, ask your post master to check if there was a GPS coordinate on the spot the package was delivered.

If they mis-delivered, and your package was insured, then inquire with the post master how to file a claim. If the package was Priority, then it should have a baseline insurance included. If it was mailed using Commercial label, then it might (might) have insurance, too.

We've had mail (not packages) disappear into thin air after mailing. Not delivered late; never delivered. Funny thing is my wife worked for USPS for a while after she got out of the Army.

It's a constant source of worry here, the post is not reliable, we regularly get mail for other towns with the same street address or our mail does not arrive.

In our last house electric bills were delivered to the wrong address and we never got them so we got a black mark on our payment and moved to a pay in advance meter, it was only when we moved to this house that we got back to a normal meter, no matter what we said to the electric company they would not re-instate our normal meter, it was very frustrating.

On the other side I did get a letter with just my name and Belgium written on it, I guess there not that many over here with my name biggrin Although having what is really a first/Christian name as a surname causes a lot of problems here, and most folk can't pronounce my first name properly many people refer to me by my surname as if it was my first name.

Well at least it's not Jones like the descendants of the Welsh WW2 soldier that stayed on in the town after the war biggrin

I regularly get parcels and stuff delivered for safe keeping for the neighbours while they are out, I now know the guy from PDS quite well! RTFM

Ah, I live in a neighborhood with three "Park Place" streets - Park Place Circle, Park Place Court, and Park Place Way.

All three have the same house numbers as well.

It has gotten to where if an expected package fails to arrive (but has claimed to), we can expect it to be delivered by hand. We've all become mis-delivered friends in this way. If it's important or expensive, a trip around the neighborhood is in order to recover the package from the wrong house's steps.*

It's not just USPS. Both FedEx and UPS have made the same mistake.

The best was when a package was addressed to Park Place Street, which doesn't exist, and the UPS guy saw me in the front yard and asked for a clue. It was to the guy at Park Place Court - I knew this because it came from a person in California, and he has friends and relatives there (and I had forgotten his last name).

* I had to explain to a very nice and diligent officer of the law this quirk of delivery, as he once saw me pull up in the truck, walk up to a doorway, take one of three packages, and walk back to the truck. Naturally my license matched the name and address on the package, and we shared rolled eyes and chagrined chuckles over it.

WOW, just unreal. Never heard of such a messed roadway marking system. At least you all get along and help each other out when miss delivered.

I'm sure USPS has nightmares as well delivering packages in Coral Gables, FL because almost all of the streets are names only. I think only some of the major streets are numbered.

UPS not any better. 4 years ago had a package that was with return receipt, adult signature required, not to be left at the door. It contained medicine for my Mum. UPS left it at the door and it got stolen. It was insured. UPS blamed the delivery service they hired to take care of the last leg of the delivery: from their sorting hub in my city to my house. The online store that sold the medicine blamed UPS. The delivery service said they didn't have any info in their delivery instruction that is adult signature required. Took over a month of back and forth to sort it out and get our money back. In the meantime no one would replace the stolen medicine and we had to order it from another company.

I live on McKell Street. I routinely get mail intended for the same house number, but about 3 miles away, on Mikenah Street.

McKell/Mikenah, are those really that hard to tell apart?

Now when you order from Amazon or one of the big web based sellers, even if you pick UPS or FEDEX or some fast service like that, many of them outsourced the final delivery of your package to either a small you never heard of delivery courier or to the U.S. Postal Service.

I think the one for the U.S. Postal Service is called Mail Innovation.

These companies sucked and are known to lose your packages.

Additionally, the UPS or FEDEX tracking system do not track that last leg of the shipping and delivery process and the tracking system on the U.S. Postal Service is incompetent and not updated in real time.
