Reading an excellent kindle novel set during the early days of WW1 onwards centred around famous names we all know I'm certain. Some great stuff regarding Richthofen during his time in the Cavalry. Also very interesting following Fokker aswell. Strange, Hawker, Boelcke and Immelmen all appear aswell, plus many more. LINK The Astonished Earth: A Novel of Flight and Legends by C Beck. I really find glaring errors in research immersion killers. Thankfully the author knows his stuff. Buy it!!

I agree never enough.
I have....
Derek Robinsons fantastic trilogy Goshawk Squadron, Hornet Sting, War Story The Larks Over and Above Winged Victory Across the blood red skies Quiet Earth Raise the War Cry Fledglings The Eagle and the Albatross (will get the second book, not yet though) Flight of Youth Wings of Contrition The Old Lie (Alex Revell novel) 1917 Inherit the Blue, 1918 Blue Skies Aloft, 1918 The Unforgiving Sky (kindle trilogy) Aces over Ypres Wings of the Morning
All the above worth reading. In particular, Astonished Earth, Derek Robinsons trilogy, Winged Victory, The Old Lie, Across blood red skies.
Fledglings and Eagle and the Albatross are from the German side, Astonished Earth covers both. The rest are from Entente side. Favourite? Has to be all three of Derek Robinsons books.

Along with the marvelous books already mentioned here, others that I highly recommend are:
"Sagittarius Rising", Cecil Lewis "No Parachute", Arthur Gould Lee "Open Cockpit: A Pilot of the Royal Flying Corps", Arthur Gould Lee "Horses Don’t Fly: A Memoir of World War I", Frederick Libby "Wind in the Wires", Duncan Grinnell-Milne "An Escaper’s Log", Duncan Grinnell-Milne "Double-Decker C.666", Haupt Heydemarck "Heaven High, Hell Deep", Norman Archibald "The Way of the Eagle", Charles Biddle "With the Earth Beneath", A.R. Kingsford "The Red Battle Flyer", Manfred von Richthofen "War Birds; Diary of an Unknown Aviator", Elliot White Springs "Up And At 'Em", Harold Hartney "Stepchild Pilot", Joseph Doerflinger "En L'air!", Bert Hall "Go Get 'Em!", William Wellman
There are of course scads more. So many books, so little time.

I wonder if Mr Beck is setting up for a series here?

Great selection. I have a fair few memoirs aswell plus non fiction books. Alex Revells book on 56 squadron is a must,"High in the empty blue" for the other side I recommend "Hunting with RIchthofen" by Bodenshatz translated by J Hayzlett.
