With all the great pictures shown here over the years (but unfortunately scattered and lost to time) I figured to start a thread where folks can post assorted WW1 aviation pics for all to see. People, places, planes. If you got one post away for all to see, learn, and enjoy. I always enjoy period pics. If you post, even with a question or correction, have a pic! smile

The one above is Albert Ball in his Se5 getting ready to leave England for France in early April 1917 with the rest of 56 Squadron. The gentlemen on the far right is reportedly the younger brother of Ball’s fiancé.

Great pic! He's already got the smaller wind screen and lower seat position, and this is another picture without the leather padding around the cockpit edge. Anyone know when that was added? Even in pictures of modern flyables and reproductions, it's sometimes on, sometimes off.


The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
