In many ways, they were ahead of their time in terms of pilot position, center of gravity, and emphasis on a powerful engine providing vertical fighting capabilities. They've got a steerable skid, and cockpit ergonomic elements that would still be used going into the 1930s-40s. I've heard someone say they foreshadow the designs of the 1920s-30s era biplane fighters, and in many ways, this is true. Great plane.
The Vintage Aviator is a real asset to the historic aviation community - wonderful reproductions, right down to gauges and small details.
