AMD officially announces the Ryzen 9 3950X
The 16-core/32-thread flagship [Gaming/Desktop] for $749

AMD’s Ryzen 9 3950X 16 Core CPU Faster Than Intel’s Flagship Core i9-10980XE 18 Core CPU in Single-Core & Multi-Core Geekbench Benchmarks
AMD's mainstream lineup such as the Ryzen 9 3900X 12 core and Ryzen 9 3950X 16 core offer absolutely amazing value compared to Intel's 10th Gen X-series parts. Not only do the X-series parts come in at a higher price point but the cost of the X299 platform alone is a huge factor. AMD's mainstream platform features dual-channel memory support and you can find various X570 motherboards around $150 US.
The cooling requirement for both the Ryzen 9 3950X and Intel Core i9-10980XE is similar since AMD recommends using a top-end liquid cooler with their chip.

RDNA2 Navi 23 GPU to Take The Competition to NVIDIA in the High-End Next Year
Based on everything we've been hearing so far Navi 23 is going to be a large GPU that competes in the high-end segment in 2020. It is [rumored] to bring full hardware accelerated ray tracing as well as a plethora of new architectural improvements.
I'm not a fan of ray-tracing. I see similar in-game effects that cost far fewer FPS. However, its a selling point -- and AMD has to compete.
So, we'll get more Ray Tracing choices at lower prices (presumably). I hope the specifications are good enough to entice me to buy

AMD sees increases in market share
AMD's stock has risen more than 90 percent in the year to date as investors have grown increasingly optimistic about the company’s product lineup. AMD’s gain this year ranks third in the S&P 500 as of midday Wednesday.
Wong has a Buy rating and $40 price target for AMD shares.
AMD shares were selling for under $2 not so long ago -- now targeting $40. Not bad -- increase your invested money 20 fold over a few years.

Again, this is not a "bash Intel" thread -- but, the actions described in the article are why this thread downplays AMD, Intel, Nvidia self tests -- often such tests are "hand picked" to make a product look better than it is. I,e. Wait for the independent tests on the new products.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 ‘Navi 14’ Graphics Card Aimed at Performance Segment According To Official Marketing Materials
The marketing material also shows that the RX 5500 is based on the 7nano-meter "Navi 14" silicon, and has a total of 22 RDNA compute units, which means that it has a total of 1,408 stream processors.
The marketing information did show a graph that compares the RX 5500 to the GTX 1650, so this means that AMD is expecting this card to outmatch the GTX 1650.
This one is aimed at 1080p gaming. As noted in the previous post, wait for the independent test results.

Intel Core i9 9900KS review: the new fastest gaming CPU
Intel's Core i9 9900KS has arrived - and it's a beast. This $599 limited edition processor was created from the best-performing 9900K models and is advertised as running at an all-core turbo speed of 5GHz, right out of the box
They put together a very high end Intel/Nvidia system -- and high end AMD/Nvidia systems. For 8core/16thread they used AMD Ryzen 3700X -- not the faster Ryzen 3800X.
Simply stated results: In tests at 1080p all the systems were near and above 200FPS (Intel was the fastest). At 1440p and 4K (where high end is used), differences between Intel's fastest and AMD's fastest were less (Intel wins). They laud Intel but conclude the Intel Core i9 9900KS performance is probably not cost effective for most gamers -- buy it for the fun of having the fastest.
The long article has the details and nuance. Its an above average quality comparison article among several Intel and AMD high end CPUs. It will make Intel fans feel good -- and AMD fans feel good.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8 Core CPU Available At An Insanely Good Price of $130 US, Get A AAA Game and Xbox Game Pass As Well
AMD's 2018 AM4 Flagship, the 8 Core Ryzen 7 2700X Now Available For $130 US at Microcenter
an absolute steal which is further sweetened with the added promo which includes one AAA title of your choice (Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, Gears 5) and an Xbox Game Pass for PC. The only downside is that you would have to be near a micro center store as the deal is only applicable to in-store pickups.
I just bought one from Newegg a couple weeks back for $190 with the Game (I got Outer Worlds). The PC (built for a relative) is finished and running well. The benchmarks are very good, as expected -- significantly faster than my 1800X. The game took some getting used to -- but, so far, its very good.
Too bad I already bought a Ryzen 7 2700 (no X) for a different application -- or I'd jump. We have a Microcenter about 30min away. Nice store -- but I already have a CPU
So, if you are near a Microcenter its a very good deal -- at least in my experience.

The article has links to over 2 dozen independent tests of Ryzen 9 3950X 16c/32t and quotes some paragraphs from some reviews.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16 Core Flagship Mainstream Processor Review Roundup - The Fastest 16 Core Chip on The Planet
Dr. Ian Cutress (Anandtech): "In terms of absolute performance across our benchmark range, Ryzen 9 3950X has the lead. This metric also puts the 3900X above the 9900KS, because despite the 5.0 GHz all-core on 8-cores, moving to 12-core and 16-core at almost the same performance per core gives more of an advantage...
For users who want the best without going to the high-end desktop, Ryzen 9 3950X has the best overall score out of all the chips we’ve ever tested."

AMD to launch Ryzen Threadripper 3990X with 64-cores [128 Threads] in 2020
AMD has confirmed that it will deliver a 64-core part for its Threadripper platform next year. The CPU will feature 128-threads and 288 MB of total cache (L2+L3). The CPU is likely to cost much more than 3970X [32c/64t] (which will be available starting from today for 1999 USD).
As mentioned in this thread not so long ago (when first Ryzen 8/16 core/thread appeared), the future of CPUs is "cores and threads". The future is coming faster than I figured it would.

Per European Hardware Association research:

AMD tops 60% in European CPU preference study
“The surge in preference from 50% to 60% over recent months, can be explained by the launch of AMD’s latest 3rd generation Ryzen desktop CPU”, said Crijns. “Ryzen 3000 not only offers better performance under multi-threaded workloads, but also under lightly-threaded applications like PC games”.
The story for AMD graphics processing units (GPUs) is also positive.
“Back in May, less than 19% of our readers were choosing AMD graphics. Today that number is closer to 23%”.
AMD CPUs doing well is being reported by many these days. AMD still has work to do in GPUs -- but, if rumors are true we'll see some notable progress in 2020.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT launches next week, Radeon RX 5600 XT in January?
AMD Radeon is making a push in a mid-range segment.
Minor items: Intel's new GPUs scheduled for next year are rumored behind schedule which makes perfect sense for a "brand new" technology -- I won't hold that against Intel.
Also, two of the three main former AMD folks who moved to Intel for GPU development, have left Intel.

Chris Hook, along with Raja and his team of ex-AMD companions led a massively successful Odyssey campaign for Intel's graphics marketing efforts. So it was a surprise when Chris Hook along with Heather Lenon (senior Manager of Digital Marketing at Intel Graphics) announced last week that they have departed the company.
