Just flew a mission of attacking ships in WOTR and we destroyed 4 huge ships in seconds with guns. That doesn't feel right. Why were there even bombers then is the question I must ask.In WOFF its super hard to take out a truck with the airplane guns and in WOTR it was way easier and I liked that. But massive ships being taken out with a few squirts of bullets?

That's what I meant. There was a joke about it way back in the early days of WOTR. Not sure why the 109s still get those missions...

Ahhhhhh thats good to know and cements my suspicion that the mission type is placeholder as there are no bombers presently modeled.

Really been getting into WOTR lately as I have tired of WW1....well actually I never really was into WW1 planes but WOFF was a WW1 sim so I went with it. biggrin It was time well spent but for me WW2 is more what I crave.

Quick question...

I do manual starts because I feel it adds a bit more feel to the sim.Put magnetos to both, battery switch to on and pull starter and it starts but the prop turns slower than normal and is visible as it turns.Increase throttle slightly and prop speeds up and disappears....any idea why that is?

Also, the flaps sometimes don't move when throttle is at idle.It could be a bug or is it modeled that hydraulic system is weaker at low engine revs...maybe ?

I brought this up not long after the game was released after flying several anti ship missions... I actually thought I was supposed to escort the bombers or some Stuka's, but no, it was for my flight.
After blowing up a few large ships with only cannons and mg's I decided not to fly the German campaign during the channel phase... it just seemed ludicrous.

Not sure about those two, maybe Pol or someone will pop in with a response!

Rick, my apology Sir. After rereading my response it came out as I was calling you out. That was not my intention. I was simply agreeing with the OP, but it reads and sounds like a smart ass response. Sorry Sir.

Ha! No problem at all! Believe me, my "Yeah...yeah" sounded a lot more nuanced when I said it in my head!

We are on a break for a while (a few weeks) so won't be answering anything not urgent

Manual start and can't take off sounds odd - maybe you have not adjusted mixture and more importantly adjusted Prop pitch?
Hurri flaps are hydraulic yes.

DM of various things maybe can be adjusted but cannons are reasonably powerful and could be hitting fuel/munitions cargo whatever too.
Also note there is progressive and spreading damage on things like ships so you can damage one area set it on fire, and the fire may spread and take it out eventually.
Just avoid those missions for now if it bugs you, maybe we can look later when we are back from break.

On that, back to a break..

OK V1.20 will (all being well) have will have revised ship damage values, and we have revised bombing to cope with tougher ships. It will we be mostly not be possible to take out a ship with cannons and MGs - you may damage it though.
