I have to give it a second chance. I didn’t make it through the first episode the other night. For one thing, they all speak in such hushed and subdued tones I can’t make out everything they’re saying. I got bored trying to make it out. I’m sure it’s important set up, so the next episodes pick up the pace a bit. I’d imagine it’s a show that benefits from multiple viewings anyway. Production value was high, they do seem to have gone the distance doing it right in that area. I’ll turn down my sub, that may help clarify the sound issue, but I don’t ever have to do that for other shows/movies.

I've not watched Witcher yet but I know exactly what you mean about the hushed and subdued dialogue. There have been both films and tv shows where it was really hard for me to make out what was being said and I know for a fact I'm not going deaf!

Me either, but it made me question it! LOL I think my wife is done with it, so maybe I’ll use headphones.

And Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider, and J.R.R.Tolkien, H.P. Lovecraft, Advanced D&D etc. We play Arkham Horror, Eldritch Horror (Fantasyflight games), and Combat Commander Europe (GMT Games) among others, together. BUT she´s not to into Sci-Fi, which then would make the perfect wife!

The games don't start until after all the books, so the story will be quite different from them.
. I didn't know this. Thanks for that info since now I will have the proper expectations for when I start watching the series.

The actors look quite alike the PC version Red Except Fringilla Vigo and Triss..... Fringilla is kind of a "Fringe" character (see what I did?) in the games, but Geralt had quite the dalliance with her in the Books.. Hard to see TRISS without flaming red hair, though, in the books, Sapkowski referred to it as "Chestnut" according to the Translation from the Polish, so Netflix Triss is probably true to the books.. Still can't quite let go of Red Haired Triss...Good job casting Roach, though Been through 3 episodes and liking it quite a lot. Definitely understand how those who haven't read the books or played the games would be a little lost...
I don't recall reading any accounts of Yennefer's origins or her trials at Aretuza in the books...but maybe I have forgotten?????

I've not watched Witcher yet but I know exactly what you mean about the hushed and subdued dialogue. There have been both films and tv shows where it was really hard for me to make out what was being said and I know for a fact I'm not going deaf! Not watched it yet either but really know what you mean with the subdued main vocals, noticed it on a few films and series, wifey has been watching some of those lovey-dovey X-mas romances and I have really struggled to hear the dialogue. Right next up is Kingsman (re run for me, but first time for her) Bed time tonight and once the wife starts snoring then I'll put on the Witcher, the Netflix trailer looked interesting.

Glad to hear others mentioning this. I KNOW my hearing is deteriorating, but I usually watch Netflix on the PC with Headphones on, so USUALLY dialog is clear compared to watching on TV... been wondering about the Witcher in this regard since I have had to back up and re-listen a few times...

wifey has been watching some of those lovey-dovey X-mas romances Is it the dreaded Hallmark Channel crap or some indigenous Belgian crap? Nah it's that American c-rap, it gets everywhere I have turned on the subtitles for a few channels that are bad for it, which includes the BBC 1 HD which is about 6db down in volume compared with the SD version of the channel, wondering if it is something to do with limited bandwidth when they go HD/UHD for streaming over the digibox.

Put it on last night for about 15 minutes or so and after the first mumble in the pub I had to turn on the subtitles, gave up shortly after. Not feeling too great and it took more energy reading the subtitles than I thought. Came down with the flu just before Christmas and now pneumonia, Christmas? Bah Humbug!
